Lady Sue's 52 ART AND RELAXATION Page 16

Well I'm not going to be kind to you just because you're ill Sue . . . I genuinely think that you've got something good there

I like the composition, I like the colour tones and it's definitely mechanical.
The shadow is a touch harsh, but that's a very minor niggle - and considering that you haven't been able to do any PP on it I think it's a VERY good entry this week.

I hope you get well soon

I am a bit better now and was able to visit my grandchildren today. I knew they would have something I could photograph for "play". Not very good technically I know but I just had my kit lens and in camera flash.

Chemistry

I was determined to try something different this week as I am feeling better now. I have never had any alternative ways of lighting my photos- just in camera flash, so this week I made myself a light box( I think thats what its called). Anyway it is a home made one, with a desk lamp inside. I then tried different "chemicals" in dishes or glasses and came up with a few different photos. I have posted 2 of them but the first is my entry for this week if I needed to choose. C and C much appreciated.
Sue

I prefer the first one.. the mix of colours gives more "actively reacting" feel

Thank you. I think I like that one best too.

the first one for me too Sue, realy nice colours, well contrasted, still not sure what they are?

The first one is an alka seltzer in water and the second is a soluble vitamin pill in water.

I love your play shot, Its really vibrant and jumped out at me when i scrolled down.

Thank you.

Another vote for your first shot Sue, it has a little bit something more about it. It says chemistry more than the other, it looks like a chemical reaction with the bubbles. I like the colour contrast too, well done on your take on a theme which I struggled with:thumbs:

Thank you Iain. Good old Alka Seltzer! I dont think you struggled- I love your matches shot.

Definitely the first Sue. The colour contrast is great and and you can hear the fizzing going on in it. Looks a little soft, particularly the larger bubbles, but a little sharpening will help bring in some more definition.

The first one shows a great chemical reaction so thats the winner for me.

Yes I didnt sharpen it at all. I will give it a go. Thanks

Thank you. Thats why I chose it.

Number 1 for me although I do like the vibrancy of No.2:)

Thank you. I did get some other versions of number two, changing levels and hue.

I really like #1, it does instantly convey Chemistry. It's fantastic, love the bright colours! xx

Thank you Nattalie

~1 for me, Bright, Bubbly and full of interest. That red is wonderful against the white.

Missed Play... what a wonderfully colourful shot... I like it.

Chemistry... I prefer number 1 too... it's clearer and works better, with better contrast in the colours.

Hi Sue.
Glad that you're feeling a bit better.

I love the colours in the Play image, but the angle and those lines really are turning it into a trapezoid shape and making my eyes go funny
Agree that you need a border to contain it.

Chemistry : I have to agree with the others in picking No.1 this week.
No.2 has potential though. I actually prefer the shapes and composition in this one - it's just not quite sharp enough to give it the oomph it needs.

Thank you. The red is the cloth cover on my homemade "light box".

Thank you. Although it seems I have made it look funny with the angles.

Thank you. I have done another version of 2 which looks a bit more interesting.I will post it later.

Thank you Sarah. I have played around with 2 and made another version which I will post in a minute, along with a bordered version of play, which I'm quite pleased with as it has a 3D look to it.

Candid

I was driving back from shopping today and saw this police car parked in a layby behind another van ( you cant see it in my photo), with the speed camera set up behind the police car. I dont suppose many would have smiled at that camera, and they certainly wouldnt have posed for their photo.

Great thinking :), Very sneaky!! Dont like how they catch people out...the road is going downhill too :(

Is the policeman looking at you thinking what are you doing? Or did you have a conversation and explain he would remain in your memories forever in your 52

I like the quote "Driving casualties Down" made me chuckle for some reason
great capture.

I got permission to take the photo from the lady police officer

ha ha great idea, and boo hiss to plod for being so sneaky.

Thanks. Yes I thought it was a bit mean. At least with the static cameras you should be able to see them in time.

Chemistry - I particularly like your first one, with the red and white fizzing all over the place. A great idea and well captured.

Candid - well spotted, and good for you for having the nerve to ask for permission! I just wonder what the policewoman thought - did you have to explain? :D

I told her that I belonged to a photography group and that this weeks challenge was "candid". She seemed quite amused and smiled and waved after I took the photo.

I too like your candid shot Sue, well done on the subject.
As they say "if you don't ask, you won't get";)

I am sure the police weren't the only ones caught on camera that day.

Definately on theme so

Iain

Good capture. Nice to hear a good report of police vs photographer

Thanks. She was very happy to be photographed. I was polite. No problem

Like the Candid shot, sneaky buggers :bat:
Thanks. yes we thought it was very sneaky

Great candid shot!

Thanks

Iain

Thank you.I'm just glad that when I drove past I was within the speed limit or it would have been taking a picture of me.
Balls of steel. :D

Not really. I'm not scared of police- they are just people. I should know- my Dad was one and my late husband.

Well done on that one. Different!

Thank you Charlie

Very brave to photograph the plod

Thanks but see above why I am not scared of them.:)
