My son came in with 1 on him earlier I have put it in a plastic container and been trying to capture a good shot of it before I let it go. Any hints on how to take a good 1 with the equipment I have.

Just had a gander at your Camera bag, Julian.
Don't see anything there that will get you close enough.
Think about a set of extension tubes if you want to get into this.
They won't break the bank and have zero loss of image quality.

Open up a new world and you'll find plenty indoors to shoot when the weather is rotten.
