Hi,

Was thinking about buying one of these

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/252728114510

For my d500 and Meike grip.

I know the designs are all pretty similar i.e. to the Kirk models, so wondered if they were stable enough. There seems to be a lot of space and leverage for wobble with just the bottom screw and having never owned an L bracket, if they are suffice when used with a battery grip.
Just found out I can't do portrait panoramas due to the camera hitting the tripod legs.
I'd rather not fork out for a Kirk, rrs version, so thinking eBay or a sunwayfoto version.

I can't vouch for that one but an L Bracket with the battery grip is fine, I've used one on my D810 for years with no problem but I did buy the Kirk.

Having said that I puchased a Sunwayfoto as a backup for my second camera and that was fairly inexpensive and I was quite surprised by how good quality it was.

I now use a non grip sunwayfoto L bracket. Whilst I have a grip attached most of the time I remove it to attach the L bracket for the times I'm going to do landscapes. I had a gripped L bracket previously on a D800 but it felt huge with the grip and L bracket on. I didn't find it comfortable to hold whilst in portrait and it added bulk too. I don't need the battery grip whilst doing landscapes so removing it isn't a problem.

L brackets should have a lip on them that stops rotation (sunwayfoto ones do though the cheaper universal ones don't). The sunwayfoto L brackets are quite solid, as had Kirk ones before and feel sunwayfoto ones are as good quality.

Cheers, i was thinking Astro/nightscape Panoramas so having the battery grip is pretty much essential due to long exposures and using the screen more at night, and of course battery life in the cold.
Not sure if sunway do a d500 one (at least I can't find one of their site) maybe I'll send them a message.

I use an L plate all the time when I don't have the grip fitted and wouldn't have any issue with using one with a grip.
However generally I don't find myself using anything other than landscape when I've got the grip fitted so just use an Arca plate on the bottom of the grip and fixed to my shoulder strap.
The one you linked to should be absolutely fine.
