I am thinking of buying one of these cameras for a little project that i have in mind. Is there film still available that would fit this camera? or somewhere that could make it? Does anyone know what size film it takes?
thanks for your help.

Hi Paul,

Lots of info here

http://www.vpk.staff.shef.ac.uk/index.html

Looks like they took 127 film which I don't think is available new anywhere but out of date stuff can still be bought. There is a rumour that it is going to be produced again by an eastern European firm but nothing so far. Can I ask what the project is as it may be that we can point you toward something that takes 120 film that might do just as well and 120 is readily available at a reasonable price.

Hi Paul, Efke 100 (127 film) is available new from Ebay. Just tap in 127 film when searching. I do warn you though it is expensive, around £12.00 - £13.00 per roll.

Hope this helps.,

George.

Some folding cameras are 120 film (which is still available at about £5 per roll). However, if you buy one that takes 127 film, the easiest thing to do is buy a couple of 127 film spools and a blackout bag (used in darkroom days for loading film into processing tanks) and transfer 120 film (which is the same width) onto the 127 rolls. It's a bit fiddly to start with, but you get used to it pretty quickly.

120 is about 2cm wider than 127 you can't respool that way. Gavin you might be thinking about 620 film which is identical to 120 film except the spools are slightly smaller in diameter. You can roll 35mm on to 127 spools but you need to black out the red window and you may have issues such as not knowing how far to wind and insufficient film tension which leads to wavy shots.
