Kodak's Press Release

The new 120 format Kodak Professional Gold 200 is an affordable, entry-level color film featuring an ideal combination of warm saturated color, fine grain, and high sharpness. It is designed for photographers shooting at any level for daylight and flash capture.

Based on the 35mm version, I can't wait to try it. I might even buy a couple of Tetenal C41 kits and resurrect my Sous-Vide Stick to process some at home.

£45/5rolls on analogue wonderland. I’d be interested to see what other retailers stock it at…

Well that's mildly disappointing tbh. I was hoping for something more affordable and at those prices, as much as I enjoy Gold in 35mm, I might keep treating myself to the occasional roll of Ektar 100. I can't quite fathom how back in 2017/18 as I was starting my 120 journey a brick of 120 Ektar went for £25 shipped, from eg 7dayshop. But you're right let's wait and see what other retailers stock it at.

I think we can probably file it under disappointing but not surprising.
Fingers crossed it comes down

Exactly. Kodak have a track record of overpricing. It might be worth seeing how much less it costs in the US though. Even Ilford film can be cheaper to import and pay duty VAT and shipping from the US than buying in the UK.

I think the days of cheap film are probably gone to a large extent, although I hope things might reduce a little at some point. The prices were likely supressed by the advent of digital when the manufacturers had to reduce prices and investment in production facilities to remain competitive. Now that we're in a resurgence of popularity, demand* is driving prices back up to what they might have been expected to be. Analog Wonderland are a great source of a variety of film and associated products, but they're not always the most competitive on price for specific items, so it might be possible to buy it for less elsewhere when it comes to market properly. Supporting the likes of Analog Wonderland, even it it might sometimes be a little more expensive, is still worthwhile over buying it from places like Amazon (who actually seem to be more expensive anyway these days) as it's the specialist suppliers who have the interests of photographers at heart.

* Still a tiny fraction of what it would have been in pre-digital days.

£43.90 for 5 according to the email from Ag, and first come first served on the stock arriving April. That makes it some £20 cheaper than Portra 160, so filling in a market gap?
