Kodacolor III 20 exposures Expired 1977 *BNIB*

Wonder how much the lomo crowd would pay for this on ebay ha ha

picked up for 20p the other week.

What should i shoot it at?

If you allow 1 stop loss of sensitivity for every 10 years out of date, then I think you'd be looking at ISO6 or below. Better pack a tripod !

Is that your stock answer lately ISO 6 :-)

open it a couple of stops paul then lean on the side of opening up a tad further if you fall between apertures / speeds

if you recall i recently shot some film that was about 60 years ood and found that a couple of stops proved ample compensation although I do agree with kevin that the general rule of thumb is a stop for each decade.

About five years ago, I used some Kodachrome dated 1987. Always stored at room temperature and it worked fine at ISO 64.

Steve.

ISO 25 then?

ISO 25 then?

If you can't decide then simply set your iso to box sped and shoot everything wide open .

It's colour negative film, it would have handled about 5 stops overexposure when fresh.

Interesting to know what the colours are like, but could you play safe and develop for B/W?

TBH, I would do just that - aim it at hipsters on e-bay, possibly with a silly reserve. Just make sure you list it as Kodacolor II rather than the III you've entitled the thread as - some clever Lomoista would complain that it was misdescribed and demand a refund...

I'm going to take it to turkey and shoot it in comedy style at 24 ISO As @Asha said close to wide open :-)

20 shots !

I actually suggested wide open at box speed but either way have fun.....i'd be interested to sée what, if any results come from it.

I would recommend that if you intend shooting any "important" shots, that you duplicate with another film/camera of which you are confident will give you the result you want in case this film goes t*ts up.

I am only taking the FE2 with 35mm F2.5 lens that's it !

I will pop it in and just snap away like crazy !

Travelling light eh?......i wish i had your discipline when going away.

Atm i'm trying to choose kit for the méga meet ....FE2 with 35mm could be a very good alternative to the half a dozen cameras that i'm considering!

There again i dont think i could go on holiday without some sort of backup.

I bought the 35mm F2.5 for the Greek Adventure and I found it brilliant, in fact I was recently wondering if a better version of that lens was available, mine is the standard Series E

If you weren't planning on keeping it yourself, could I ask for the box when you're done with it? I'm trying to collect some of the older boxes for a display stand I have, I'd pay postage.

It'll be interesting to see what the photos look like if they come out at all, I suppose it depends a lot on how it's been stored.

They'll be muddy and horrible, C41 film doesn't keep well (not as old as this)
They'll most likely be flat and muddy and the colours will be gone and even if you black and white it the base will be poor. :(

I have thought a few times about collecting old film. Not to shoot, just to keep. Got enough clutter though.

As for a better 35mm lens. From what I have read they all get mixed reviews, even the F2 & F1.4 Nikkors. Has the Series E 2.5 ever disappointed with its performance? I have the 2.8 AIS & the 2.8 Nikkor S versions of the 35mm. Neither is highly regarded in reviews but neither has disappointed me.

For a better wide angle maybe look at the Nikkor 28mm F2.8 AIS? Lovely lens that is way more highly regarded than the 35mm Nikkors.

@DNH cheers for the heads up on the Nikkor 28mm F2.8 AIS I might take a look at one of those.

I did have the Series E 28mm and thought it was ok but I traded it for the 35mm as a more suitable carry around holiday lens. I did find it a bit tooo wide though if I remember.

Have to admit, I prefer the 35mm lens perspective to the 28mm lens one & often have the 35mm lens attached as my walkabout lens. Angle of view aside, the 28mm F2.8 AIS is totally different lens to the Series E. 8 elements with the front one moving for close range correction.

I totally fell for the 35mm when I had to take a skinny kitbag to Greece last year for a whole month.
I took the FE2 and the 35mm and that pretty much stayed on all month, in fact I also took the standard 50mm and every time I stuck that on I found myself struggling in tight alleys etc.

cn film doesnt age as well as bw, i shot some 400iso stuff a few years out of date, at 400
it had horrendous colour noise.

i shoot paper at iso 6, with rb67, so with a faster lens and greeces sun you shouldnt have much issue

I think i may just sell it on flea bay to the lomos

Don't forget the silly high reserve!!!

Yeah sell it on the bay as you wont learn anything from using this film as the colours will not be like it was when new, and if even the results were good....would you buy more very old film at 20p when Vista can be bought for a £1.

Was thinking the same yesterday with Vista being so cheap. Add the words rare & Lomo to your listing … you might make enough to cover a few rolls of Vista :-)

I wonder if some mug would pay a huge amount of money for my 3 rolls of Kodachrome 64 expired in 1991? The buyer might be a bit disappointed when they posted one off in its pre-paid processing envelope.

I just made £50 clearing about 20 rolls of long expired 120 film so yeah sell it :-)

As it happens. I get quite decent looking bw negs from that film.

At the bootie now and again see B\W film going for peanuts and that would be better, and think of you guys, but with the cost of postage you might as well get a new one.
Just bought two 35mm 36exp Kodak gold for 50p expired 2008.... all Kodak gold results from back to 2006 have been VG.
