Know yourself as a photographer - amazing vid

Some definitely did not watch it, as they've admitted they gave up after 40 secnds, which is before it even begins ... their loss.

My crime was saying I didn't get it.

I hate to think what your response would have been if someone had said it was crap.

Antagonisitc posts like this will ensure this thread deteriorates like the Parr one.
 
I watched into the main video but quickly realised it wasn't for me. I think I've sat through it before anyway.

Why should I look into him more I have no interest in OCF and that is what he does/teaches it's not my bag sorry. For me it wouldn't matter if he's not that depressing all the time even if I liked him and knew him personally I would file that video under self inmportant guff.

You've said it yourself you only know who he is because you found him through a site all about off camera flash technique, outside this field he clearly isn't a big enough name to register with alot of people. Sorry tedious was just my opinion and I stand by it, I tried watching it again and still can't force myself to sit through it.

I've not watched it all, it's painfully self indulgent and not the sort of thing I've got time to spend on sorry if that offends you but it sure as hell doesn't mean I've got my head stuck anywhere just means I don't need to listen to someone burbling on.

Maybe, which is a shame because despite his association with OCF, I'd say he has a lot to offer photographers in general. His article about how to set up a studio is brilliant, as is his blog, which gives great insight into the trials and tribulations of being a pro.
 
Worth watching, makes some good points and puts them across well.

That is not what Pat meant at all and you should be astute enough to know that.

Creative issues and doubts for the hobbyist does not mean that they go without food, for a pro it could well do.

Look for his One light Dvd. I don't think anyone has ever been able to explain the basics better. And like it says, the main idea of that package is how to get the best from one flash. He does band shoots, model shoots etc ... all using one flash, indoors, outdoors etc ... it's a few years old at this stage, so may be a lot cheaper than it was back then. It was $200+ !!

Here he is doing a few simple portraits of Jared Polin, I know loads detest the fro, but see how obedient and quiet he is here while Zack works. He really does make it seem soooo simple, and explains everything as he goes along. He knows what the shot is going to look like before he takes it every time.

Thanks for the link...this one was certainly a lot more useful for me personally. Though think it could have benefited from being edited down to get rid of some of the filler rather than being a continuous shoot.

Yeah I agree, usually Polin would edit that down, but I guess he wanted to show the whole thing. It does drag on a bit alright, but you see the thought process in action.

Although it was nice to see the flash not triggering when it should...thought that only happened to me :)

Clicked on the link recognised his face and instantly hit close. Bought the one light DVD and couldn't watch it, the guy annoyed me that much I sold it without even watching it dumb I know, :thinking:

Prefer the David Hobby stuff personally or even joe McNally.
