I ordered a lens from DigitalRev on the 10th November, expecting it to arrive about a week later. On the 23rd there was no sign of it, and I noticed that I hadn't received a delivery confirmation with tracking number, which they said I would get in the original email.

I contacted them to make sure it had been delivered, and they assured me it had, but that they didn't supply tracking numbers for HK deliveries (odd :cuckoo:). They said to allow 7 - 14 days. It had already been 13 days by this time.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and left it a while longer. In the meantime another user on here (who is also a user on another forum I use) confirmed that he had received a tracking number from DigitalRev when he ordered from them. This confirmed the suspicion I had, that they didn't want to give the tracking number out, as I would discover it was sent late.

So on the 30th Nov, I emailed them again and pressed them for a tracking number. They gave me one this time, and confirmed that it had been posted on the 18th, 8 days after I ordered it. :bang:

So now it's the 2nd Dec, the HK Post website can only confirm that it left for it's destination on the 18th, and I still don't have the lens that I bought specifically with this weekend in mind, as I have two Christmas parties to attend that I wanted to shoot at.

I know there's nothing you lot can do about it, but I just wanted to vent my frustration. Grr.:bonk::bang:

You could rent a lens for the weekend.

I could, but it's not a commercial thing I'm doing. I just wanted to play with the lens really, so it's not like I'll be letting anyone down by not having it in time. It's just DigitalRev (and HK post) letting me down that's twisting the knife. :(

Wait till HMRC get hold of it and stick it in storage till you pay the extra duty.

I don't really care about that anymore. That was always a risk anyway. I had an Ebay voucher that means, even with the duty, it's cheaper than it would be buying it elsewhere.

If you want something straight away, buy from a 'high street' store.

If you want something a little cheaper, order online from a UK shop.

If you want something cheaper again, buy from overseas, but expect delivery to take some time (for shipping, customs, etc) and you might have a little more hassle chasing etc.

Just chill out - I'm sure it will turn up. If buying from overseas was always a hassle free and speedy service, we'd not bother buying from anywhere else.

True. :)

I'm just used to getting things from HK much more quickly. I ordered a guitar from there once, that must have weighed the best part of 12kg, and encased in a coffin-sized chunk of polystyrene, and received it in a few days with no duty to pay.

I guess I've just been disillusioned by my good fortune in the past. :D

I've bought a lot from DigitalRev in two orders (2 cameras+4 lenses+2 flashes) then (1 camera+1 lens) and never had any problems at all.

based on my experience with tracked parcels from HK, I think you'll probably have it in time for the weekend. Here's hoping anyway!

I did a bit of research on DigitalRev before ordering, and found nothing but positive feedback. I think I spotted a previous post from you on the matter, as it happens.

That's why I thought it would be here by now, and I was especially surprised that they hadn't even posted it until 8 days after ordering.

They have said that they have received some recent complaints about HK Post, but I can only take their word for that.

Woops, that was directed at cowasaki. Thanks PhotoTalk. That's making me feel a little more confident. :)

How did you pay?

If I recall they won't despatch until they have cleared funds.

The times I used them they have been quick. Would definately use them in the future if I couldnt find it elsewhere at a better price

I've not heard a bad word said about them, like I said, so I'm not placing all the blame on them.

Actually there's an Ebay discussion running, and it seems quite a few people are suffering with HK deliveries at the moment:

an e-mail from them said they had cut back on air freight contracts this slowing down outbound post

So I guess it's just a case of waiting. The tracking website says that it left for it's destination on the 18th, so I suppose that doesn't necessarily mean they only received it from DigitalRev on that date.

I bought a 32Gb pendrive on eBay from HK on 22nd Nov.

They sent me an email saying there were problems with HK postings.

However it arrived safe and sound on 1st Dec. so some things are getting through OK.

£18.20 post free, try getting that in your local store!

Sorry to go off topic, but can I ask where you got this from? Links?

bought a nikon remote control from ebay hong kong seller.
Item never turned up .
cheap item, but not cheap if you never get it.

If Im ordering from Hong Kong, I will only ever use http://www.onestop-digital.com/

They have been recommended to me in the past.

But it seems this is a problem with the postal service rather than the seller, so I'm not sure how much difference it would make in this case. Still hasn't arrived anyway. I've emailed the seller again, and now just awaiting yet another response.

It's arrived. About an hour after I emailed them an ultimatum, of sorts. :D Never mind. It's here now. Itching to get home from work to try it now.
