This is not about the cleaning methods but something I find makes checking sensors so much easier, may be of interest to anyone considering cleaning their own.
First is using a "Loupe".
All it is is a magnifying glass with lights in which rest on where a lens fits onto the camera
when looking through it the sensor is so much easier to inspect. none of this upside down reverse nonsense some methods use
here is the D300 sensor which I have often had to clean, and saved a wad of cast doing it myself
from here people use different cleaning methods so i won't go into what I do.
