Sorry for a dim question but how do they work? Have seen pics of one but can't see how it would move from horizontal to vertical... will one fit directly on my manfrotto tripod and 468MG head or will I need to buy anything else?

I believe you use the tripod head to move from H to V

The bracket just provides afim support base in either mode.

Weggy, you will need a base plate to put on your tripod, something which is compatible with the Kirk L plate and that is going to be a Swiss-Arca type mount/clamp which is a dovetail design something like this.

Once the QR plate is in place on your tripod you just unclamp the L bracket it to change from horizontal to vertical - it doesn't slide round or anything like that.

Thanks

I do have a QR plate on my head already, but I assume that won't be compatible with the Kirk L bracket?

In many ways the AS system is far better designed to the Manfotto system as there is no chance of the quick release comming lose in the field and dumping your camera on the ground.

Thanks

The Manfrotto quick release system is not compatable with the L bracket.

I stand completely corrected:bonk:

Not quite true FJ. Weggy, depending on what Manfrotto head you are using you could use one of the Kirk speciality heads for Manfrotto/Bogen tripods. If WE don't sell them I am sure they could get one in.

Hope this helps.
