Yes
has anyone had any problems with them?

tried it on 2 computers, photo's are copying slowly, and thumbnails loading slowly?

any ideas?

What USB ports do you have?
I have sub 2.0 ports on mine and a few 2.0 ones and if i use the pre 2.0 ones its like pulling teeth.
Try all your ports and see whats the fastest, if they are all the same report back.

when things slow down on my laptop..and my previous pc i did these things

reg clean, startup clean and unnecessary files deleted using toni arts reg cleaner
do a disc cleanup and empty the recycle bin
do a defrag
do a virus scan of all files

finally shut down and restart...

my laptop slowed recently and i think it was too much protection from too many sources trying to do the same job
i uninstalled everything and reinstalled avast free virus protection only

do you use a card reader, and i do expect your usb to be 2.0...otherwise that could be a cause

you can check your processor on utilities or by running disc doctor..which is free

will be interested to see if any of this works

i have found part of the problem, the card reader! its a crappy technika one from tesco, allthough i think i have a minor card fault as a few of my jpg's have big grey squares on them.
think i will invest in a new card reader, and see what happens, use the 2x 4gigs for important stuff.

great!!
i have had a technika mouse which went kaputski so i can sympathise...the reader i have now is a MotionFlash 17 card reader although i only have SD and Xd...
it has served me well over the years

did you do the hard drive clean up anyway or was my ideas a bit naive..

cheers
geof

If it's one of the cheap 8gb ones, yeah I've used one before. It'll be slow copying/thumbnails due to the speed of the card. I tried one in a dslr and it fails to write to the card when high speed shooting, will record the first image but every shot after that is just blank/corrupt. It really is worth investing in some proper cards.

I have an 8GB Kingston CF rated at x133 (20MBs) and it is a lot lot slower than a Sandisk rated at 15MBs.
I suppose it could be counterfeit.

Sandisk Extreme 3's for me everytime. I had a couple of kingston fail so won't use them.

always copy from the card to the pc in the 'list' view
any other will slow things up
