My wife and I have just started getting into amateur photography and we recently ordered a canvas print from a company called Kings of Canvas Link removed by mod and our photo won the image of the month competition (automatically entered). It was only a £25 prize but we now get entered into the image of the year competition where there is a much larger prize. I thought I would post this up to let people know of the competition and just to say that I can recommend this site for converting your photo’s into canvas prints – it was delivered within 5 days of placing the order and to a very high quality.

welcome!
congratulations!
where's the picture so we can all admire it!

Well done! I'm still waiting for a canvas print I won from jessops. Almost 3 weeks ago! :(

Sorry - I am new to the site and still trying to work out how to upload images etc - I think this should work...

Oooh they might just sort me out for xmas ....

Nice shot too!

 yup I can see why it did so well!

Lovely picture :)

I wouldn't bother entering this TBH.
It seems that the "competition" could very well be rigged. ;)

'Won' did you? How did you pick your own name out of the hat? Was it just pure luck?

And 5 days to deliver it? Why didn't you just pop into work to pick your prize up? ;)

Uh? What is all that about? Glad I joined a friendly forum.

So youre saying you have nothing to do with this company?

I think it may have something to do with your first post sounding a bit like a sales pitch for a company you may or may not own.
Bit of an ongoing problem on forums.
If you have no connection with the company then well done, the photo is nice.

Welcome to the (friendly) forum anyway.
Dean:)

I have nothing to do with this company - i thought the idea of these forums was to share experiences. My job is in marketing which is why it probably sounded like a sales pitch. Lesson learnt.

Hmm... £35 for a coated inkjet 12x12" and up to a week for delivery? Think I'll stick to photo-canvas who are cheaper, next day delivery on standard sizes and use dye sub printing...

The forums are for sharing... but you dont seem interested in anyone elses experiences.
Since you posted this thread ... you havent moved from it.
Im surprised to see youre not interested in looking at anyone else's pics or reading/discussing kit... thats what we're all here for.

You have, and we intend to keep it that way.

The problem is that generally when someone signs up and their first post is a recommendation for some business 99 times out of a 100 it's spam.

You may well claim to have nothing to do with the business you're recommending but there's an internet trail that suggests otherwise. Additionally I can't find any mention of this competition on your site, another suggestion that it's just self promotion, quite a nice marketing ploy actually.

Please feel free to prove me wrong but in the meantime I'm removing the link. I'll reinstate it as soon as you convince me I've made a mistake :)

I can see your point - but it is on the site - on this page http://www.kingsofcanvas.co.uk/consumer_canvas_news.php- don't worry about reinstating the link though (I have learned my lesson).:bonk:

To be honest, it wasn't that. It was the fact that 'her' email address (Ian?) is a company that resides at the same address as the parent company for Kings of Canvas...Hell of a coincidence?

Hmmmm! :nono:

Well, we were 99.9% certain but that confirms it

nah new laws
smirking in the office isn't allowed

Blimey this case was solved faster than a Midsomer Murder!!

Any chance of a discount then Smirk?

aawwww....... the mods know how to spoil our fun. I was waiting for yet another explanation. Ah well.
