Yes
I drive a lot and have a motability car on their lease scheme. I have managed to drive 36.000 miles in a year and a half without putting a scratch on my car. However this morning, just backing out of a friends car port I caught the bumper and front wing very softly. :bonk: There was no damage to the wood I hit but quite a lot to my big strong Volvo.

The insurance company were fine about it and I know worse things happen but I am annoyed at myself for being careless and I have to pay a £75 excess so there goes the nifty fifty I was saving for.

My mum has a Motability car and the mileage is no longer set a 36000 over 3 years its gone up to a very reasonable 60000

You are lucky the insurers are paying at all tbh, Motability & RSA have generally decided that scratches and dents that do not prevent the car being driven wil be left until the lease ends now and be justified in the sell on price afterwards.

Ouch! It hurts your pride more than anything else... I put not-so-lovely go faster stripes on my 3 month old car when I took a tight corner in an underground car park a little too tight :$ They are still on the car as insurance is extortionate enough here, and the quote to get it fixed is about $1500

I do not believe you wanted to do that! They obviously don't make Volvos like they used to. I've got a K reg 850GLT and I reckon I could drive that through my front door (all wall for that matter) without putting a scratch in it

Is the scratch really bad enough to warrant claiming? Seems a shame to bin your lens plans just because of a crunch that was obviously the car port's fault

Insurance is going up big time anyway - all those people suffering talent/weather interface problems recently are putting huge costs into the system and that means that we will be paying for it.

Do you have to pay excess mileage as well ?????????

Yes I will probably have to pay for some miles as I will probably do a bit over the 60,000 in 3 years. It costs 5p per mile over that. Fair enough really.

I did phone Motability to find out if I should just leave it to the end of the contract and offered to email them a photo of the damage so they could decide whether to get it fixed but they werent interested. They told me to contact the insurers, who also werent interested in seeing a photo of the damage and who put me straight through to a garage for repair.

Yes my pride was hurt too. Fortunately my insurance is included in the Motability scheme. Its just the excess I have to pay.

Seems like the Motability people , who I was obliged to contact, want to get it fixed or I wouldnt have bothered.
