Yes
I'm looking at shooting some shots for a friend's website. He's after him sparring at his club. I want a large soft light and I was then thinking of using a harder but reasonable size light for definition of muscles. Would a large brolly give me a good fill light and a parabolic brolly give me the definition I'm looking for. Parabolic off axis shoot through close to camera.

Yes, pretty well.
A large umbrella for on axis fill and a parabolic umbrella will theoretically do the job, but most of the so-called parabolic umbrellas aren't anywhere near to parabolic, so you will need to choose carefully. A beauty dish would probably do a much better job and has the advantage that you can fit a honeycomb to it.

Thanks Gary, I will look into your suggestion.
