Why do they call it Kentucky Fried Chicken when they cook it in the oven?

regardless, I love it.

I think they stopped calling it that years ago.

"what we've come to know as Kentucky Fried Chicken was born."
and
"Today, there are several different kinds of cookers used to make Original Recipe® Chicken. But every one of them fries under pressure, the principle established by this now-famous Kentuckian."
I see them taking the chicken out of ovens though
Now we all know you like to argue. But tell me, when was the last time you saw a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant? They were all rebranded KFC ages ago. So, as I said, they don't call it Kentucky Fried Chicken at all. They used to, and the link you posted obviously refers to its heritage; because there are some people out there, like you, that totally missed the rebranding.
...so what does KFC stand for...
The restaurants USED TO BE called Kentucky Fried Chicken. Now they are called KFC. Surely that's not hard to comprehend.
The word "fried" was deemed to have negative connotations, which was the driving force behind the rebrand.
Whoever eats this rubbish needs their taste buds and wallets examining.....utter trash food.
One thing that the TV chefs have taught us is that this type of rubbish should not be in the food chain.
Happy indigestion to anyone who slobbers over this tasteless fayre.
slurp slurp tom!!! Tastless it is not - it's delicious greasy hangover cure.
I WANT SOME RIGHT NOW!!!!
so they shortned it to KFC - it still stands for Kentucky Fried Chicken
and if it doesn't stand for that then tell me what it does stand for?

Unlucky Fried Kitten.
No.... KFC doesn't stand for Kentucky Fried Chicken, the outlet is now just called KFC and since the rebranding doesn't actually stand for anything.
As others have said, there were negative connotations around the word "fried" but rather than completely reinventing the brand, they took a recognisable part of it and made the old initials ths brand.

It no longer stands for anything. It's 3 letters that has come to represent the brand.
Exactly the same as BP not standing for everything - yet some people think it's British Petroleum.
It is tasteless compared to how I can make 'fried' chicken.
I am surprised by your standards Joe, next you will be telling me you let your kids have McD's.
I'd rather eat KFC than burger king which is truly dreadful and I've worked for them too.
I do loa of work for KFC, the chicken is still deep fried but now in pressure fryers. They are a bit like a deep fat fryer with a sealed lid. It allows the oil to be far hotter so less actually ends up in the food.
I watch it being fried regularly and occasionally go for a boneless chicken meal. I'd rather eat KFC than burger king which is truly dreadful and I've worked for them too.
Joe
They load racks with chicken peices and drop them into what looks like a top loading oven, but it's actualy a deep fat fryer almost 2ft deep and 18" square.
They put a bar over the top and wind it down a bit like an apple press which seals the pressure in. As the chicken gives off moisture the pressure builds allowing them to fully cook the chicken in 6 minutes.
I wouldn't swap places with most of their staff they are one step away from slave labour.
