:wave:Evening all,

Anyone here from kent area who is into urban exploring?
Would be nice to discuss any good buildings to explore in our areas and maybe give pointers to shooting etc.

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

The most recent place i have been is The Old Railway Works in Ashford, Kent

Some great info on it here.

Oh! Do you have any shots of the railway works you can put up? If it's where I think it is I've been looking at trying to get in there for a while. Is it not all closed and fenced off now?!

I don't have much. A few railway line shots but not much. Keeping my eye on the construction of the new bridge from Sainsbury to the cinema as I think that could be interesting as it goes over the motorway. I think the only place to snap it would be from the bridge at Bybrook though, so I'm not sure that would work very well ...

Hi Babs

Yes got a few! been there twice this month and managed to get through a broken window. Was on my own so was a bit on edge haha.. theres still cranes and huge hooks used to lift the trains in there its awsome. in the middle of tweeking the photos at the moment to will post later tonight for you. There nothing special as still getting to grips with a DSLR.

Also saw on a drive with my son there is an abadoned train staition in Lydd!! not sure if its anything to do with the romney, hythe, dymchurch steam railway but looks like a superb location to shoot..

I'll look out for your shots. Though I'm not sure I'm quite dedicated enough to clamber through broken windows

Have you been down to Dungeness yet? I love it down there and although it's not urban it's very desolate and interesting.

RE the bridge. They're building a new footbridge as part of all the work currently going on at the drivers roundabout. There might be a possibility of a shot from Staples, but I'm not sure. I'm hoping they put it up bit by bit!

Lympne Castle might be worth a visit. And there are several martello towers along the coast - not very photogenic admittedly, but you might be able to make something of them. Then there's the Hythe Military Canal; not a building obviously, but definitely historic.

Evening,

Hi Roseway, thanks for the heads up on these locations. Am going to visit Lympne Castle with the family during the summer. My son will love it.

Here a a few rough (i use the term rough loosely!! lol) of the old railway works.

Also on my drive back from the inlaws today through hawkhurst i noticed a huge empty building so looked it up. Its called the Lillesden school for girls it looks amazing and it also said online that it was a set for one of the doctor who episodes. To spooky to visit alone so my brothers are coming along.

Old thread bump, but it looks like the motorway bridge is going to be finalised over the next couple of weekends. Could make for some interesting shots.
