Kennet and Avon Canal - drained locks opportunity

Though I cannot get there thanks for the link.

I am sure the pub will be very busy.......it does great food, we have had a few family get together meals there :)

Anyone going, I look forward to seeing the pictures.

Looks fascinating, but just a bit far for an un-planned journey.

Note for anyone planning a visit in case it's not clear: these locks are not in the Caen Hill flight but further down, around the Barge Inn at Seend Cleeve.

An ex-colleague of mine was a chippie and did a lot of work on the Caen Hill flight before it was re-opened. I'm not surprised the locks leak.....

Not sure if these locks are on the stretch used by the Devizes to Westminster canoe race (Easter weekend IIRC) or if they're part of the Cofton Portage section (?). Probably a bike or 2 in the bottom!

Ta, Byker. Been 35 years plus since I ran most of the DW course as a support crew.

Woke up this morning feeling rubbish - man flu - WTF!

Took a stroll alone the towpath, it's right by the Barge Inn
Canal leading up to it is quite empty

The dock area was very busy, they've some stalls out, things for the kids to do. Make nesting boxes, build brick walls, a large aquarium full of local fish etc

You can walk down into the area but I was feeling rough at this point so we left.

Sitting feeling sorry for myself with a lemsip now.
