Decided to buy a TC to go on my 70-200mm VR, the price of the Nikon 1.4x has jumped to £300 so went for a Kenko pro 300 instead. After reading some negative comments about how securely it attaches I was a little concerned, but having got it I can say the fit seems perfect to me...

Going to Whipsnade tomorrow to give it a proper go, but took the little test pic below yesterday evening - 280mm, f4 at 1/60th, focussed on the bridge of her nose so the eyes aren't as sharp as they could be, but still not bad considering it was handheld with bounce flash...

Yeah, these are excellent.

I've only read negative comments here, which never made much sense. Had two, one I lost somewhere, bought a second one, both were excellent.

Maybe the one I had was faulty  It certainly didn't feel very secure on the camera....

I was walking round Dunham Massey for 3 hours with one holding my Canon 300mm F/2.8 and 5D & grip together and it didn't fall off so they must be pretty tough, tougher than my arms, they were killing me

I have one and thinks its very good , I do have a canon one coming next week will compare the 2 then decide which to keep

I sold my Kenko Pro 300 in the hope a Canon 1.4 would be even better. I sold it within a couple of weeks and regretted losing the Kenko. Now I have placed an add in the classifieds wanted. Somebody please help?

which did you have the mk1 or 2? I have the mk1 coming. if I prefer it the kenko will be for sale ;) if not then the canon will be.

what difference did you notice between the 2. ?

Mk II, I had to work harder in the processing stage (which I am poor at). One of my best shots with the Kenko was a moon shot and it was really very good by my standards but the Mk 11 was pretty poor in comparison however better engineered. The lady I sold it to wasn't impressed with it but I did warn her that it took some work to get the best out of it.

well the weather turned not long after we arrived at Whipsnade yesterday so didn't get the chance to take many pics with the TC. Still impressed overall with it, doesn't seem to affect IQ too much at all...

70-200mm + 1.4tc, 280mm f/4 1/250.
