Hello All

Looking to do some macro photography but dont really want to spend £300+ on a lens. Has anyone used Tamron SP AF28-75 F2.8 Di Can A09 Lens with Kenko Teleplus DG AF Extension Tube 36+20+12 for Canon EOS? Will it work or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Many Thanks

Not used the tubes with that particular lens, but they do work rather well with the Tamron 17-55 f2.8, the Canon 50mm f1.8 and the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 that I have. No reason why they wouldn't work as far as I know.

Autofocus works on all of them (though it's easier to manually focus when that close anyhow).

Took this with the 50mm and a 20mm Tube the other day.

Cheers Dave, early christmas present for me I think! Love the images as well.

Dunno if you've already got a flashgun - If you have it's definitely worth investing in a ttl cord as well so you can have it off camera - When you're this close to things the on camera flash is a pit of a waste of time as the lens gets in the way.
I got myself a Yuongo (excuse spelling) one off ebay a while ago and not really looked back. Much cheaper than the dedicated Canon one and does exactly the same job.

You'll find that @ f2.8 the dof is so shallow that on shots like those above, you'll only get 1 or 2 stamen in focus at any one time. Usually shoot these at around f11 / f16 (but the orange one was at f20) do get more in focus........

the tubes (which I bought on here ages ago for less than £100) were (and still are) one of my most used accessories, you'll definitely enjoy them.

A well known South American rain forest site sells Polaroid extension tubes for £60, half the price of the Kenco ones. They still maintain auto focus and aperture. Mine work very well on my canon 1100d.

South American rain forest site
I had a blonde moment then and couldn't work out what site you meant :-)

Cheers for thr heads up, they look great and are on my shopping list.
