I am a complete amateur at photography, and also a newbie to forums! ive started the 52 project a week behind so am sharing my picture for 'accommodation' first and the hoping to get out and find something for 'new' at the weekend. Ive started the project so i can improve on my skills (which at the moment my skills are minimal) Also my camera is fairly basic as its a starter camera, im hoping to upgrade my camera when and if my photography skills improve! :) My camera is a fujifilm finepix s1600!

Please feel free to give me any constructive criticisms. :)

Week 1: Accommodation.

This morning i went out in my garden looking for some 'new' budding plants to use for my 52 project week 2 but i came across this snail shell. I thought it was pretty fitting for accommodation as when i looked into the shell it no longer had a snail in but a spider family.

Week 2 coming soon.

I like the shell, I might have placed it on a different background as the colourways are extremely similar...but that might be your point :D As said above i would certainly have avoided that harsh shadow on the right.

You have handled the dof well  ;) Only another 51 to go

This week was quite tricky! I didnt want to just go for the obvious, as in bought something new so i settled for taking a picture of what will be my 'new' hobby. I got a bracelet making set for christmas and want to learn to make some good standard bracelets to give as gifts, so here is a few of the beads to get me started.

Great concept and composition for your week 2 shot, love the colours of the beads and the way they are spilling into the foreground. My crit would be maybe the base on which they are sitting, I'm not so keen on that and the reflections or colours coming from it, maybe a sheet of black perspex would enhance it a bit. Also looks a wee bit soft to me and could do with a larger depth of field to keep the area from the frontmost beads to the tube openings in focus before fading off into the background. The top of the tubes could also use a wee clean as the dust or fingerprints are showing up under the light.

Hope that doesn't come across as too negative as I do like the idea of the shot and look forward to rest of your 52.

Ok so week 3 is alittle late, but here it is. Its a photo of my boyfriends tattoo on his arm. Ive cropped the photo and filled the background as the colours were all very different. I was hoping the bright colours in the tattoo would come out but i wasnt able to get a great lighting so decided with the black and white. I like it :)

So heres 'style'...

Week 4 coming very soon. :)

Here is my photo for 'open'. Open eye! :) There was quite alot of light so adjusted the light levels slightly. I used black and white again as i liked how the iris and pupil stands out.

Next weeks aim...do my week 52 project ON TIME.

Hi

I like all your shots and for a beginner you show real promise and have an eye for a good picture!

Style stands out for me so far... the open is a great idea but its a bit too out of focus... mind you its very difficult to get the dof and get this close without a macro lens.

Good luck for the following weeks

Mark
