Critique required Kell's 52 in 22 - week 52. Showcase

Week 12 - Discarded

Spotted this coming down from Scafell Pike.

I'm guessing someone had a shop-bought sandwich and doesn't like tomatoes.

iPhone shot, I did have my little PowerShot in the rucksack, but TBH at this point I was knackered and just wanted to get down.

Ticks the box. Well spotted. Lovely weather for a climb up and stroll down…..

Works well for the theme. The phone hasn;t done the sun on the water any favours. I'd clone it or crop it out.

Image on theme for the challenge ... pleasant walk down for a couple of pints at the Wasdale Head Inn

At least the tomato will rot in short order and they didn't leave the sandwich box. Agree about the patch of sunlight but I'll let you off since you'd had enough by then :).

Nice picture! You have composed the shot well and I the phone has perhaps let down with it has "seen" the suns reflection.

How long did the walk take you?

Took about 4 and a half hours total. With messing about time at the top and plenty of rests. But 3:15 of actual walk.

We entered the three peaks challenge some 25 years ago, did Ben Nevis, but when we got to Scafell Pkle they wouldn’t let us go up because of the weather and waved us straight on to Snowdon.

Good spot and nice image. as has been said, the phone hasn't helped (Wastwater is such a photogenic location, from any angle).

You went the extra mile for this one.
Item and location fit the theme well.

Technology... I agree with the better shot with the person walking in. Not sure I'd want to buy anything there though ;)
Discarded... very well spotted. On that walk I'd be far too busy concentrating on where to put my feet! Oddly it makes quite a nice shot IMHO.

Thanks Helen.

I did go in there a couple of years ago and it was the strangest experience.

I hadn’t read any reviews beforehand, but afterward read up on the guy and he’s infamous for not really wanting to sell stuff

I was looking for a second hand 70-200 f/2.8 and asked if he had any in stock.

The answer I got was ‘yes’.

But no effort was made to actually go and get them or allow me to handle or check them.

He then wandered off. And started chatting to his mate.

Having read reviews it seems I’m not alone.

Someone got told he couldn’t try a lens on his camera till after he’d bought it.

Technology - love the camera shop image
Discarded - no rotten tomatoes from me Kell...I think that it was well spotted and a good shot for a camera capture

All I can do is point you to Chris's comment HERE...!!!

Nice picture and I really like how you've highlighted the hearts. I had to resist the temptation to take a similar shot!

Excellent! I think you're the only one so far. The selective colour looks great.

Nicely popped Kell.

 good take on the theme

Well captured. Unusual yes.

I will refrain from making a political comment:exit:

That's a good shot Kell, your comments put it in context.

Thanks - I was also trying to work out the full frame equivalent on that first shot.

It was on an 80D (which is, I think, 1.6x crop), and on a 1.4x extender and at the long end of 100-400.

Does that make it 896mm equivalent?

I agree it's unusual to see a female ref. Good to see.

Flora - yes different from other flora shots and the colour pop works well.

Discarded - perfect for the theme and well spotted. It's a shame about the sun on the water, but not much you could do other than move it and it does make for an impressive scene :)

Thanks to everyone that's taken the time to leave comments/

I've been very busy recently. so not had the time to respond to the comments - or to post comments on other people's pics.

I'll try harder...

Well spotted and commented. I bet she takes no prisoners!

Week 15: Snapper's Choice.

Was in the Peak District visiting friends and out on a bike ride when we cycled past this building. East Buxton Lime Kilns. Reminded me of a James Bond villain's lair.

iPhone shot.

TP52: WK15 - Snapper's Choice by Kell Lunam-Cowan, on Flickr

It was stitched together from about 5 separate shots as the in phone Pano didn't really work.

Interesting - functional and brutalist, but curiously appealing too. I see what you mean about the Bond villain's lair.

I was curious when I saw this in the main thread. I thought it must be some sort of a dam. There is no doubt that doing the 52 broadens one's knowledge! I agree it looks better than the in phone pano. I've never tried doing my own - food for thought.

Looks like a lovely spot to cycle.

That’s certainly an interacting and unusual building. The pano works well, but both good shots.

What an interesting building. when I first saw it I thought it might be ex military.
Your chosen one is the best.

That is unusual, bond 100%, looks like caves made out of concrete.

Pete
