Critique required Kell's 52 for 25 - Week 51 and 52.

Great set Kell, but it's #3 for me. I love the colours, the low POV and the reflection.
 
Nice set Kell. Another like for the puddle shot and paving shots as well.
 
"Drop" is a nice image as is "typical autumn day" but I like the thinking behind "autumn workers" different but it works really well.

The second circle image works better for me, nice set though.

Good set of circles Kell great colours and definitely meet the theme.
Think I agree with Allan preferring the 2nd shot, the circles are more prominent and the verticals are better. Once I noticed the building on the left of your chosen shot I couldn't unsee it :)
The architect hasn't held back when designing that building(y)

Typically - about two weeks ago, I did a 'circle theme' for my own little project, so finding some new ones was a challenge.

Thanks. I do normally try and do something different - just so it stands out (even if it's not 'better').

As for this week's themes, I was torn between 1 and 3...

I've looked at the buildings and am not quite sure what you mean about the one on the left...

I actually like the Brutalist buildings here. But they are divisive.

I don't mind any crit, I was just unsure what you were referring to.

But I see what you mean now.

I read the two sentences above as being related to each other. i.e. the architect hadn't held back designing the building to the left.

What I tried to do on the chosen shot (on all my shots actually) is pick a vertical right in the centre of frame to use as my vertical. Everything else sort of falls off that.

So I guess the buildings are leaning in as that particular lens is quite wide (28mm) so will cause that distortion.

Week 44 - OLD V NEW

This is St Paul's from the rather newer One New Change Shopping centre.

I almost went with quite an extreme crop here as the full image shows how off-centre I was when taking the shot. As it was done with a 16mm FISHEYE, the whole foreground is skewed and no amount of PP correction was going to sort it. You can see I was closer to the right hand side as the level of the first floor is much higher on that side.

I've shot here before, but it's becoming one of 'those shots' that a lot of people are clearly trying to get (a bit like the Big Ben through the Arch shot).

When I was there at least 3 other people were trying to take something from here, so the security guards are getting a bit funny about it. Hence grabbing a quick-ish shot and not getting centred before moving on.

Agree with the shot you chose, quite a contrast there.
Guess St Pauls has seen a few changes and will see this shopping centre come and go.
 
Great shot Kell, I'm liking the frames but I'm more partial to letterbox crops, so it's #1 for me.
 
I love that shot, very striking.
Prefer the full image, I would take a bit off the top but just my preference.
 
Week 45 - Snappers

An old favourite in terms of location, but I'm going through all the vintage glass I've accumulated over the years and trying it out.

This Minolta AR1 55/2 lens is the oldest one i own and is from around 1958-60.

Week 46 - Urban Life

It's telling now that no one is ever alone with their thoughts anymore. No sitting just watching the world go by, instead they (and me included) always have their heads down looking at a screen.

I originally saw the person with the umbrella, and thought they'd make a good subject, but while in PP, noticed the guy in the background and thought he added an extra element. In my head the story could be that they're messaging each other and don't even realise.

Also taken on the 65 year old AR1.

Urban Life, what a great shot and effective treatment, makes it arresting.
 
Two very good shots Kell, like the colours and reflections on the panorama and the urban shot does have a story
 
Really nice snapper's Kell, a lot of depth in the image.

I enjoyed hearing about your thought process in your urban photo, it adds so much context to the image.
 
Week 47 - KEYS

Bought my wife a Saxophone some time back and while I cannot play (any musical instrument) I'm fascinated by the the detail of something like this.

I was unsure if the bits were called keys, so I had to google it, and they are.

I dusted it before I started, but still...

Multiple versions, tried a real close up and then for the RED HOT SAX version dropped a torch with a red filter into the bell. But in the end decided to go with the versions where you just see hints of the bell and more focus is on the keys.

I prferred the B&W versions as the colour is a funny one to get right. THey all looked very green when i was processing.

Yep nice set. My daughter has 4 of them. Why didn't I think of that!!!!
 
Good set Kell, B&W definitely better for these, see what you mean about the green in colour shots
