Week 37 - emotional

As a confirmed atheist, I'm not used to seeing people of the cloth out and about - certainly not in the droves that we saw on a recent trip to Rome.

And I find it unusual when I see them doing 'normal' things. Like giggling with excitement to see the Coliseum.

Not usually a fan of B&W but seems appropriate for the emotional shot, the Ferrari museum shot is great- especially with that sky (y)
 
Week 38 - YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE

As I'm from the North East and my wife is from North Devon (but we live in High Wycombe) some my favourite places are at least 200 miles away and difficult to get to.

So instead, I'm going to share a pic of what has (accidentally) become my favourite place to shoot. Since moving to the South Bank for work a year ago, I must have taken hundreds of shots either with St Paul's as the main focus or at least with it in the background somewhere.

This is going to be a slight cheat as I took this the day before the theme was announced, but it is one of my favourite views of the cathedral and so I would only go back there and shoot it again anyway so I figure it's OK this time. No idea who the girl is, but I think she adds something to the shot.

Nice contrasty monos. No2 for me with the full reflection :)
 
Good shots, no 1 for me. The reflection is better in the 2nd but St Paul’s looks more imposing in first shot and the girl is not looking down( at her phone?)
 
Week 39 - Eye

As soon as this was announced, I knew where EYE wanted to head.

Shots all taken on a Sony A7i with manual focus Minolta 24-50/4 or Minolta 50-135/3.5

The LONDON EYE.

Just a little early in the year for it to be dark directly after work, so I had to hang around for a bit. Also slightly disappointed that it was static, as I've shot it with long-exposures before and it's nice to have the movement in it.

In the morning before work, I took this. I ended up on the 'wrong' side of the Jubilee Bridge and they're doing some work to it, so have this sheeting up. I liked the way it blocked the view.

Also went out for a walk at lunch, but the beautiful sun from the morning had gone, so I managed this as it's an angle I've not really seen before. Pleased as I've not cropped or rotated it.

Week 40 - HEAVY

There's a 'beach' of sorts under Tower Bridge that is only accesible at low tide.

Yesterday, I lucked out in that low-tide was pretty much bang on on my way in to work, and then again after work (though it was fully out till about 10:30).

I went down on the morning, but the light was very flat, so while I took some shots, I'm not going to share them.

But when I went back at night, I was surprised to find that there was now a substantial and HEAVY iron ladder now deposited on the beach. Makes you think just how strong the tide actually is.

Fantastic image Kell, love the POV, the composition and the colours.
 
Nice shot Kell, not often you see a ladder as a leading line. Guess it would have been a bit messy and heavy to swing it a bit to the left

Nice shot Kell, love the contrast in light between the tower and ship. Lovely row of star bursts and chains to anchor it down(y) :)
 
Lovely shot as you say the contrast between the ship and tower works very well.
 
Great set! I really like the Pop of Autumn & your first Typical Autumn Day, but they all work really well - especially for a miserable day, the high vis definitely brightens it up :ROFLMAO:
