Week 1 - Lines and Angles.

Wanted to play around with how distortion messes with lines and angles and figured what better way to mess them up than with a FISHEYE.

The perfect subject (in my head) was the collection of brutalist buildings along the South Bank. Partly because they're comprised almost entirely of straight lines and right angles, yet shot through a FISHEYE, suddenly feel a lot softer somehow, but also because i walk past there on my way to work.

All excellent for the theme but I prefer the south bank centre

I can only echo what Allan said; a great set, but that last one...

Thirded on the third shot. A fisheye always looks like fun but I've never tried one-only wide angle lenses.

Nice set Kell. All work for me - my only note would be on the otherwise excellent 3rd shot, I think (I might be wrong - I often am), that the centre line looks a little bit skewed to me, but it may be the angle it was taken from.

Thanks Simon - I'll have another look at it - but I did level it up in LR and put a vertical line from the point at the top right down through the gap in the paving slabs.

It's a little off, I'll admit. As I think I was fractionally off centre.

On the left is where it sat originally, on the right is drawing it shorter to centre in the base of the column.

I can only echo what others are saying there Kell, a strong set but no3 for me, The low shooting angle clinches it.

All good images but the South Bank is the one that jumps out at me - really striking composition!

I appear to be in the minority, the BFI would have been my choice. The South Bank Centre is good but doesn’t have wow factor for me.

Great shots Kell, I like them all but I think that #3 works best for me.

First one for me Kell. I like the tight compostion and black & white processing.

Good set Kell and think you picked the best shot, like the angles and the plants below are a good contrast to the hard buildings.

It's very, very marginal, to be sure, and as you say I thinks it's because of where you shot it from rather than actually skew-wif
It's the one thing that (often, annoyingly for me) my brain can't unsee. Maybe I was a spirit level in another life
The right hand one looks perfect to me.

Thanks for all the comments.

I think I went for the B&W pic as it most represents that distortion I had in my head when I approached this. Obviously, that doesn't automatically make it the best pic.

Week 2 - rust and decay.

Not really got something I'm super happy with this week.

So a selection of things I've taken for the theme.

Love that (y)

Love your Windows and Doors shot!

I think I might have gone with your rusty shot of the two nails (?), that's got lots of character.

Picadilly line 73 stock?
I also quite like Rust & Decay 4. it looks like you are looking down the barrel of a rusty old canon about to shoot at the boat.

Good set of rust and decay shots, another who likes the cannon/pipe shot. Great colour on the window shot and just got the door in (y)

Great rust/decay shots Kell, I would have had problems choosing between 1, 3 and 5...maybe leaning towards #3...

Excellent windows shot as well, the colours really make it pop.

Great effect and take on the theme!

Those colours always just work. I love the way the roundel is almost duplicated!

Ooooooh TRAIN!!!!

Nicely shot Kell :)

Rust and decay.
Shot 3 for me and I like the processing on them all.

Windows/doors.I like that Kell. Especially the contrast between the static writing on the platform edge and the moving train.

Apologies for not commenting/liking other people's work for the past few weeks, but I've been super busy (andthen on holiday) so this is a bit of a catch up for me.

Week 4: Something broken.

Old, BROKEN pier in front of the OXO Tower.

Week 5 - Rainy Day

The only good thing about a RAINY DAY is that it makes for some nice reflections at night.

Week 6 - Looking through

View of the shard you get LOOKING THROUGH the 'portholes' on Southwark Bridge.

Plus FRAMING tech.

Up in Edinburgh are we Kell? :ROFLMAO:
I quite like the contrasty processing for the OXO Tower pier, I think that suits it and the dutch angle on the Eye with the reflections is nice too.
I'm not sure I ever noticed the holes in Southwark bridge. Mind you I probably used the wobbly bridge or London Bridge more often.

They're in the little stone porticos (if that's the right word).
