A somewhat last minute decision to take a break away, I am heading to Kefalonia a week tomorrow.
Just wondered if anyone had any tips for landscape locations out there. I plan to get some sunrise and sunset shots bagged.
I've been looking into Melissani Cave, and I presume that i'll be heading up Mount Ainos, as I can never refuse the challenge of a mountain.
Any tips, advice or locations would be much appreciated

Can't help directly, only from others who have some experience there. Summer is not the best time to climb the mountain; 30-35C is not uncommon. Carry plenty of water and consider starting very early to give yourself a chance of getting off the hill before it gets really hot.

Lovely island.

Regarding Melissani Cave, I suggest to visit at mid-day on a cloudless day for the full, aqua marine colour effect.

A few other suggestions are:-
Assos – nice horseshoe harbour. You can get some great shots of the village from the headland with the castle on it.

Myrtos Beach – looks good (and photogenic) from above (top of the windy road)

Byzantine style frescos of the new Orthodox church of Omala

Argostoli – walk over the footbridge for a bit of Loggerhead Turtle spotting, we've being twice in August and seen them close up both times.

Fiskardo - worth a visit, we've seen some very expensive boats in the harbour. Plus there are some nice coves in that area.

Thanks Dave, decided against the walk due to 38-42 deg temps in the daytime. I did head up in the night though for some moonlit landscapes! Was still pretty hot up there at 4am!

Thank you for the advice. I managed to hit most of the locations you mentioned. Fiskardo and surrounding bays were excellent. Likewise Melissani, which at 12.30 was optimum time to visit.
Due to the heat, I didnt manage to shoot as much of the villages as I had hoped, but I felt like I saw a lot of the island overall, while still taking plenty of time to relax, swim and indulge in the amazing food and drink!

Really appreciated answers guys! Thank you both
