It was always thus for people pictures - one nice big soft light, one reflector, that's it![]()
I agree wtih Mahoney - i wonder how much of that look comes from the post processing... and then also having a gorgeous model, and all the other things he listed.
On the other hand, if it was a gorgeous model, all the clothes and hair and make-up and props in the world - and then six lights all pointing in the wrong direction - it would look rubbish.

My point was the light is just one factor in the final image, and videos and tutorials along them lines are all well and good, but it can leave people thinking they can expect comparable results with a "myspace model", a speedlight, and a white wall and no post production.
That lighting is a drop in the ocean....an important one, that makes the image, BUT, there is a big effort that goes into making an image of that calibre, before, during, and after a fully fledged fashion shoot which I'm sure you know.
I may be wrong, but are you inferring that given a plain looking model with no hair and make up team would not look good with one light, but by adding more lights would make it a great shot?
Very much NO, in fact its the opposite of what I'm saying, lol.
See, I said "I may be wrong"
Seriously, I do now see where you're coming from. I just like any opportunity to promote shooting with one light![]()
You're an eli user too, what's your favourite modifier for one light model shots?
