Keeping bed sheets tight?

I like my sheets as tight as a drum and in the past ive used lengths of string with loops in the end threaded under the mattress and pulled tight using a cable tie, this keeps the mattress protector thingy pretty tight. I then buy a size larger flat sheet than I need and tuck loads under each side.
However I am now in posession of a new bed with a thicker mattress and newer heated mattress protector.
So has anyone got any ideas on how I might keep it all tight? Ive considered double sided tape, velcro somewhere, some sort of strong flat clip but not sure what/where if available. Oh and the solution has to be "unclippable/untieable" fairly easily so things can be taken off for washing.
Cheers all!

It's not 'Mumsnet' is it? :D

I'm surprised you're using a flat sheet. I too enjoy a nice tight sheep sheet and prefer the fitted, 'extra-deep' sheets with the occasional tucking in to maintain tightness.

You could always adjust the tension/elasticity of the sheet if not sufficiently tight I guess.

I use THESE on the mattress protector as I got fed up with it rolling up under me at night. A length of thin bungee cord connects them.
They were ok just under the mattress, but my Mrs said she could feel them (yeh, right) so I stretched them all the way under the bed.
With the duvet on, you cannot see them.

She's a princess of course she could feel them,

Think that requests of Trumps got lost in translation :D

It’s not any help, sorry, but do you find it also annoys you when the quilt isn’t straight/fully in the quilt cover properly? I’ve been trying to think of a solution for that. Thought of putting popper buttons on both which would hopefully work.

They look just the job! cheers! Some sort of connecting strap and clip where you can sort of double the end back and pull it tight, but just lift the clip/clasp to loosen again to go with it would be ideal. Like some trouser belt connectors/clasps you can get.

Yeah but, no but, they only have elastic bits on the corners dont they? So the "edges" come out/ride up way too easily?

Sleep on the sofa :D

No problem! Glad to help.
I also use them for a frost protector sheet on my car, I used these a lot in my Scouting (Leader) years for flysheets and tarps.

Do you have any clip on braces, you could use those to clip to the edges of the sheets, then start a new post about why your trousers are falling down :D

Reminds me of an apocryphal tale of a chap who f***ed the photocopier and tried to repair the resulting damage with a stapler.
