As you might know, I know have a Nikon D5000, Nikon 18-70, 55-200, 85 and 600 AIS. D5k is supurb, despite being entry level, it doesn't bother me as I can still quickly access my most used functions.

But the 30D and Canon 100-300 USM I used is redundant...but something says don't sell it in the back of my mind....can anyone convince me that I'd be better of with £250 ish? And when I go back to Canon, prices will be furthur down, and probably be able to get a 40/50D for the same.

What would you do in my position?

Thanks

I'd keep it and put a reasonably compact and fast wide or standard prime on it.

Personally, I'd sell it. And if you actually need a 2nd body. Get the Nikon equivalent, a D70/80. Do you really want to be spreading yourself thinly over two formats or would you rather be focussed on one?

hmmm, both good points. Thing is, I'm only really with Nikon at the moment as its what I can afford...I really want the new EOS 550D. Hence, I fancy keeping even just the lens, the 100-300., for when I go back. But I prefer waiting a while until prices fall, hence I haven't already sold all the Nikon stuff for the 550D.

Because I don't like buying stuff brand new, as it seems wasteful to me, when if I wait a few months I can get it s/h....plus, I'd need a biggish zoom as I do wildlife.

What do you mean 'when you go back to Canon' - havent you just changed to Nikon?

Well yes,...but at some point I do want the 550D, because I want to get into the video area as well.. call me crazy, I know.
