to be fair I'd say the real blame rests withthe consumer who buys that kind of crap - the magazines only print it because it sells , if joe public didnt buy it there'd be no market for these sort of shots and paps would have o find something else to do

it is Impossible to control the prurience of millions of readers, nor is it illegal for them to ogle semi naked pictures.
It is illegal to to use a long lens to break someones privacy and to publish the results.

The public will always buy smut.
Many millions have been made from that fact.

Ive no idea whether that was what was used or just speculation - but an outfit like that is what customs and excise use to get incriminating shots of drug deals at a similar range

Almost none of that is accurate. The crown gave the income from the crown estates in perpetuity to the exchequer in return for what used to be called the civil list. The income received by the exchequer from the crown estates massively outweighs what goes back to fund the head of state and royal household expenses.

I also don't buy into the "marry someone famous and you become public property" argument.

surely this is absolutely not linked to the topic...some women are slim, some are more curvaceous. The invasion of her privacy is no linked to either.

in spite of my moral objection to everyone going on about kates boobs, there is a very funny mock up for the next royal mint, a very regal profile i might say. and with added inflation I might add....worth a google for comedy purposes
