KATA DR 467

Kata bags are brilliant, great find

Made in Jersusalem too which makes it all that more of a Xmassy bargain ;)

I would order one, but not with WHE's extorsionate £24 delivery to Northern Ireland by normal Royal Mail

it's a great bag i have got that one...you can get them on amazon too but not as cheap as that

That's a crazy price, thought it was about the same royal mail postal rate as mainland uk

It is, but when I've questioned it with WHE before, they explained it was due to the "additional order processing involved"

No sign of mine yet. Thinking it will arrive tomorrow and I go away at 6am for 5 days. Bummer. Would have been nice to take away.

Thanks for the heads up on this deal, been looking at these s/h and they have gone for this price.

I was just looking for a bag. Is it comfortable on the back? I had Kata Prism-U for a week and decided it's not for me, don't want to make the same mistake.

I've not used it extensively yet but it seems comfy with all my gear + laptop in it.

I've got the 465 (without the laptop compartment) and as a bag to carry for long periods is awesome. Do a week's snowboarding with mine when I go and it's very, very comfortable.

It'll fit a gripped body plus a couple of smaller (18-70mm-type) lenses in the removable compartment at the base. The top section will carry a flash or two and some sarnies.

Ok so I've just loaded up my new 467 and to be honest i'm a bit disappointed. I managed to fit my gripped D300 without lens fitted, 50mm 1.8 nikon, 10-20 sigma, 16-85 nikon and 70-300 cheapo sigma in the bottom section, and that was at a push. That leaves the top section for everything else. Which means things rattling about.
Im also not sure how happy i am at how easy it is to close the bottom section when loaded up and the top section is full of loose bits and bobs, as they seem to catch and snag and make it difficult to close properly.
The quality of the bag is really good. No issues there at all. Theres a rain cover included and my tripod can be strapped to the side no probs. And theres loads of nice little features that make me smile about it.
My other bag is a Rezo 190 AW, and the main compartment in that is bigger than the 467 padded compartment.
But if your prepared to sacrifice a bit of camera kit, ie a lens or 2. Then you've got a pretty good bag which will hold your butties, book, etc and of course the all important laptop in the back bit. Just wish the camera bit was bigger. My next purchase, fingers crossed, will be a nikon 70-200 and unfortunately theres no chance of that fitting in.
Im sorry to say, although I cant grumble at the price, in hindsight I should have bought something (rucksack style) a bit bigger.
Hope this helps.

Chris, would if fit 2 bodies (1 with decent lens on it, 4 1/2") and another lens (6")?

I think it would be a push to be honest. I dont think you would fit 2 x D3 size bodies in with those lenses. I will try and fit 2 x D300 in tomorrow and let you know with some pics if successful.

I have the 465 which is the same apart from not having the laptop compartment. I can fit a 350D, 40D both gripped, bog standard 18-55 kit lens, 10-20 in the bottom, then pop my 70-200 2.8 in the top (on its own).

Took the bag to New York and it was really comfy, had it on my back for 10 hours each day. Managed to fit a 350D, kit lens 10-20 and all chargers etc in bottom, then purse, notebook, pens, travel documents, money, drink, jumper, umbrella, sun cream, ipod, magazine, phone in the top half and it came in just under weight regs for hand luggage.

That would be brilliant. I'm looking to have the 50D with a 28-135mm lens, and 100mm macro lens and a 5D body only in there, and then maybe a 50mm.

Cheers

Ok, as promised, heres a photo of my efforts to get everything I need into my KATA 467 for a wedding shoot at the weekend.
I squeezed the following in, and by squeeze, I mean SQUEEEZE....

D300 gripped
D300 un gripped
Sigma 10-20
Nikon 16 - 85
Nikon 70 - 200 f2.8
Nikon 50 f1.8
Nikon SB600
Lightshere Dome
Macbook
Bus powered USB Drive
Macbook power supply
4 x D300 NiCads
Various mem cards and mem card reader.
Remote Shutter release
and finally there will be a small tripod strapped to the side.

The bag is jam packed and weighs a ton.

Thats a fair bit of kit.
It may be a squeeze but thats a fair bit of kit.

there are also outside pockets that you can put small bits and bobs in.
