Week 6 Present

This is my little friend Sid the Sackboy helping me to wrap a present, and getting in quite a mess too!

Well done - you managed to get an unusual photo from the more obvious interpretation of theme and that is quite an achievement!

That is just soooooo cute and very well executed too. I can see it printed for a Valentine's or birthday card.

The background could maybe do with a bit of selective burning, just to soften the edges of the shadows and darken the top LHS corner - that is being super picky though.

I really do love this shot :love:
I'm hoping that Sid will make another appearance somewhere else in your 52.
 
Great execution! Those sackboy's really do make brilliant photographic models.

Hmm that's odd, the top LHS corner should be 100% black as I already did some photoshoping on the pic to make the background darker.
Sid will definitely be back! - watch this space!

My People pic will be up shortly, gotta dash out to the pub - priorities and all that :beer:
 
Ok, so here we go with week 7 - People

Really struggled for inspiration this week, didn't want to get my head kicked in down the local shopping mall which meant some lateral thinking was required.
I did think of going down the Lego people route but that had been done, and Lego people are dead expensive!
Ended up just going for a drive and a wander about, stopped in Lichfield on the way home and came across loads of stone people on the walls of the cathedral.

I love images like these. Could sit and look at them for hours.

Wonder what it would look like in B&W?

Anyway - first time visit to your thread, and you have some great images. I particularly like Street as a technically excellent photograph, but on a personal level, this is my favourite.

Not usually my cup of tea but I like it :shrug: just seems as though it wants to talk to you very clear love the colour not keen on the black and white.

Well framed and plenty of detail in there. It's a really nice image.
 
Really like the ethereal feel of the people shot. I'd stick with the original as the muted tones suit the picture.

Really well spotted and lovely execution. I’m going to go against the majority and say that I prefer the B&W version, but both are very good. I find that the carvings just look a bit crisper in B&W and there seems to be better separation from the background.

Both are very well done though - it’s a very simple composition, but it really doesn’t need anything more complicated. Works brilliantly just as it is.
 
That is really well seen and composed - I love the contrast between the stone and the wooden door behind. Both work very well but I prefer the B/W for the same reasons as Sarah. :thumbs:
 
Week 8 mechanical

Found this weeks theme really difficult, infact I spent most of the weekend wandering around with the camera at my side hoping I would find something to shoot, I'm not 100% happy with the shot I've ended up using, but it will have to do for now and I may re-visit the theme at some point.

This afternoon I stopped off at an industrial estate where I used to work that's got a load of scrap yards on it and managed to fire off a few shots between the railings. I never expected to get anything much, and later found I had the wrong white balance set, and every shot looked horrific, luckily I was shooting in raw + jpeg and managed to remove the blue tint I'd given to all my shots. :cool:

I've done a small amount of fiddling around with the pic in photoshop, there was a van in the original shot so had to crop it quite a bit, plus because I was shooting upwards the sky was completely blown, so I've used the sky from a different shot I took the day before. I've also reduced the saturation quite a bit.

That's very nice. Has an apocalyptic Terminator feel to it. You've done a really good job on the sky and the whole thing fits together well.
 
I suppose I like this shot, even though it looks like an old scrap yard feel, you have captured lots of depth and emotion. Well done :clap::clap:
 
agree with darren, does have an 'end of the world' feel to it.. great job on the sky, would never have guessed you'd replaced it!

I like this, and I think the de-sat has done it justice.

The replacement sky was also skillfully done.

I like this a lot and the PP has worked brilliantly.
The addition of the sky is absolutely seamless, although I think that since you were adding a new sky anyway it would have been good to go for a slightly more dramatic one.

This is one of those shots that I just want to go back and keep looking at. There's so much there to catch your eye. Very well done IMO - especially for a theme that didn't inspire you much.
