Karlos's 52 for 2010 - Week 12 - Produce - Page 6

egg sell lent!

Love it! That creme egg one is really clever, and very well executed!

At the size you posted I still can't figure out what the first one is. The creme egg is good though but the big stone blob in the bakground is a little distracting. I think without it the tile pattern would then fit in with the shape of the chopping board with the sideways z pattern at the top. I think it might help the flow of the picture

Thanks for the comments, I think what I've done is started the pic with a few select kitchen type items in the background to set the scene, which I kept on changing while setting up, and as I've kept changing my mind on angles and lighting etc I've got closer and closer and haven't re-consider that the background items aren't adding anything to the composition any more. Will try and bear it in mind in the future.

The log picture is back to normal size now.

Cream egg does it for me Karl.A well composed shot thats similar to a few others with regards to the chopper but totally different,if you know what I mean, I know what I mean.:shrug:Like it heaps....Mick

It took a while for me to see what the first shot for week 3 was. For me the cream egg shot is a winner

Week 4 Street

Went a wander around Birmingham with my camera last night which felt very weird, only took about 30 shots in total as I was a bit paranoid about getting my stuff nicked and didn't want to linger too long in one spot.
Managed to get 2 keepers out of the 30, both of which were shot on auto I think! so I've had a go at reducing the noise and also sharpened it up a little as it was a bit out of focus.

Nope I'm afraid not, I didn't take my tripod with me :'(

Great effort given it was handheld.......would have loved to have seen the light trails from the moving wheel though.........

Love your chopped shot too - at least we know how you like to eat yours! :D

oooh i like that. very nice.

have to say it. How do you eat yours? (chopped Theme pic) hehe.

I can't believe that this is another thread that I have only just found. I love all of these images, Karl. They are all very clever, well constructed and fit the themes perfectly. The egg is extremely clever and I love the street image. Well done. I hope I don't lose this thread again!

Sorry missed your 52 up to now, just viewed all your pics fantastic start like the egg with the reflection of the wrapper in the blade also your last street shot, still not taken mine with work hoping can get some inspiration soon once again well done:clap:

"Street" is brilliant - and at first I thought it must have been taken in Italy or somewhere! And I like the fact that the wheel isn't spinning - for me it makes the shot a bit more unusual and striking.

Love the colours in your street picture. The wheel frames the building very nicely

Still trying to catch up, sorry its taken so long to get round to yours...

This is a really great effort considering you hand held it, you've done very well.
But, as mentioned by ProG77 about the light trails ...if only, would have been the icing on the cake.

Very nice week 4 image. Well lined up with the road and railing leading you up to the silhouetted figures all highlighted by the building and it's halo

love the creme egg shot, hate cream eggs though.. can imagine the noise from the adverts when you chopped it ;)

nice street shot too.. very good for hand held the wheel frames the building perfectly, great composition..

Great shot Karl! You must have a steady hand. I really like the silhouettes of the people in front of the building.

Cheers, Rob

Thats a great spot Karl, really good composition and one that you can go back and play with....Mick

Love the textures in the first chopped... but the second is an eggsellent take, and quite a funny yolk :D... (sorry...) I prefer the second one...

I like street, that's cleverly lined up.

Creme egg shot for me from your chopped selection. It's just really good fun and I love the reflection in the cleaver

Street
Now that's a well thought out and well composed shot!
Shame about the noise, but it doesn't detract that much and it really is a stunning image.

I love the different layers of interest in this one - the wheel, the building, the silhouettes of the people and the bridge leading you in. What's nice is that although you have these different layers, they all seem to hang together perfectly as part of the overall image.

One suggestion for improvement from me. The blue structure on the RHS is a touch distracting and could benefit from being cloned out.

Hello, me again!

For once I knew straight away what I was going to shoot for this weeks theme, as the National Cyclo-Cross Championships were being held in my local park this weekend.
Ended up having quite a few firsts today; it was my first time with a moving subject, first time shooting people, and also first time having to contend with a crowd getting in the way - not to mention the press photographers!

Took 445 photos today, of which I ended up with 9 that I liked  this is the one that I though conveyed the sense of speed the best.

edit: changed my mind, gonna show 2 pics

Oh and thanks for all the feedback on the previous weeks shots, will make a better effort at reciprocating the feedback this week.

great sense of speed, shame about the tape in the first one as I think it looks speedier than the second.

First one conveys what you were after best. Good use of panning to keep the subject sharp. The tape at the front is a little annoying, take some scissors next time :)

#2 for me
#1 would work, but the tape is a distraction
and good speed theme!

Poem....Well put together with some interesting background info.

Chopped....2 different takes on the theme, I'm inclined to go for the first the texture and subtle colours work really well.

Street....Nice framing, the lit wheel surrounding the building looks fantastic.

Speed...Although the first shot shouts speed the tape interferes too much, I like the sharpness and detail in the rider in shot 2.

Thanks for the comments, sometimes its all to easy to miss the obvious!

I just didn't really notice the tape going straight through the rider, hence why I posted a second one when someone pointed it out.

I did get a few other tracking shots which are on my flickr, but either didn't get the riders face or blurred the rider a bit.

I prefer the first for it's composition and overall impression of speed, but like others have already commented, I think it's a shame about the tape.

Hi Karl. Good effort for getting yourself out for this weeks.Gotta be no 2 for me also, again its only because of the tape in 1.
What you worried about 9 from 445! Show off:thumbs:....Mick

Another vote for the first one minus the tape, Also think it would be better with the biker in the first third with the middle and right third empty to show what he was moving into.

Number 2 has a really sharp face but is a little too tight a crop for me.

Great efforts

Dan
