Karlos's 52 for 2010 - Week 12 - Produce - Page 6

Good luck Carlos Will look forward to your posts. Good luck and welcome to TP

Ok, well here we go, week 1 Curved.

I did struggle a bit for inspiration on this one, my last resort was going to be Selfridges as it's only about 5 miles away. But after taking some close-ups of Hula Hoops - yes really! I hit upon the tunnel idea.

I'm really pleased with how this shot turned out, I shot about 15 pics from the other end of the tunnel, mostly taking the same shot with different amounts of exposure compensation and apertures but eventually realised they all had my shadow or the tripods shadow in them, which I've been struggling to photoshop out. Ended up taking about 4 shots from this end of the tunnel, and they all turned out quite nicely.

Some of the others contenders are in my flickr thingy if you are interested.

Welcome to TP and  for attacking a 52 straight away, looked in your flickr and quite liked the one with the long shadow. This one does not seem quite as sharpe .

This is great karl. The light looks almost heavenly and i find myself wondering whats at the end of the tunnell. Had a look at the other two on flickr and this one is by far the best. Much more abstract

With the reflection it almost looks like an empty tunnel, looks great

Nice one Karlos - even the straight barrier's got some curved bits!

Arthur

I love this shot, well done.

nice start to your tp career
- and welcome

I just had a quick look too and agree but prefer this one.... either way I love industrial / mechanical type scenes my self so its a winner for me.

Great start to your 52 Karl

Really, really like this shot. Hugely atmospheric and definitely curved.
The reflections in the water are just the finishing touch.

Compositionally, one little niggle from me . . . I'd have liked it laid out with just a bit more wall to the left, so that the part where the railing exits the tunnel was sitting on a third.

Karl,
Great shot, I really like it, I struggled with this one as well, I never thought of a tunnel. Look foward to seeing more, and good luck for the 51 left,

Thanks everyone for your comments and input.

Sarah, I can see what you mean, I may have a bit more wall in the original file so I will see what I can find later this evening, when I'm back on the laptop.

This shot has so much going for it. Love the reflections and also :cough: the light at the end of the tunnel. Excellent

Excellent shot Karl, lovely light, and reflections, and on theme

It's a cracking image and well exposed for the conditions. looking forward to seeing more

Nice one Karl, good composition ,eye wanders right through

Lovely lighting and colour  - maybe could do with a little sharpening.

Now this is very nice, good composition and the exposure has been very well handled!

Week 2 - Poem

I absolutely love a good cup of tea, so when I found a poem about it whilst trawling the internet for ideas, I just had to use it for this weeks photo.

Took me about 3 hours tonight to get a shot I was happy with.
The hardest part was getting the lighting right, I started using a couple of household lamps, but couldn't get the strength and colours right, ended up using my mountain bike headlight as it gave a much cleaner and whiter light.
Also struggled with getting a good angle, I started with the center column of my tripod inverted, but couldn't get my head to the viewfinder because the legs kept getting in the way, so resorted to opening the legs as far as they would go and having the column horizontal.

I did shoot the photo in raw as a bit of an experiment, but had a hard drive failure on my other PC tonight, so couldn't process it, will have another go at the raw processing this weekend if I get time. For this version the only PP I've done is a slight crop and added the poem and border.

This particular tea is called Silver Needles, it is classed as a white tea and is made only from tender new buds that are covered in silver-white hairs. The leaves are picked only two days a year in the early spring and are processed entirely by hand.

Hope you like.

Hi Karlos, a belated welcome to TP! :-)

I really like your week 1 image, the light's lovely.
I've tried and failed to get the same sort of effect in the past with tunnels so you've inspired me to have another go. Well done!

Your week 2 pic has great lighting and I like what you did with the dead space, it reminds me a bit of a magazine advert.
Got to agree with Yv's comment - I was laughing thought of it too. :-)

:notworthy: What a great shot!
Composition is fantastic, with room left for the poem at the side. Great detail and contrast in the tea and a perfect poem to go with it.

Between pornographic tripods and hard drive failures it sounds like you had a touch time of it. Certainly paid off though - this is one of my favourite poem shots that I've come across so far

week 1 - like this one, fits the theme very nicely

week 2 - well done winning the tripod fight to get a good image... any one for a cuppa?

Come Karlos, don't tell me you didn't know you have to tuck your ears in tight when between... yeah well, a great recovery after all that, and I love the picture, looks like it could be #1 of a series of four table mats :D

Arthur

I don't like it, I love it... Superb image Karl, even fighting with the lighting, tripod and equipment.

Week 3 Chopped

Really difficult theme this week, was hard trying to think outside of the box.

I've ended up with two completely different pics, which I like equally, one is a bit more 'arty' and was a relatively simple shot to take, and the other was a bit more fun, but soo much more work!

Hope you like.
