Week 5 - Rainy Day

This is my submission, a classic take on a nice thing to do on a rainy day. Curl up with a book. We had no rain so instead I used the trusted spray bottle on the windows. I wish I'd just pushed the mug back another cm or two so it didn't intersect the leg. This was an interesting lighting challenge to.

The other shot I was considering is this from Cyprus the week of the theme.

Both work nicely Kane, although the horizon not quite straight in the second shot ,over me to favour your chosen shot.

Thanks Tim, I did play quite bit with the WB. The video lamp on the right side was very warm, and a very cool flashgun was pointed through the window (the white in both socks is a little different). I think the whites on the shorts & socks have turned out 'natural', but the scene still has that warm feeling of relaxing at home on a cold day.

Nice colours there Kane, tells me warm and cosy, wrapped up warm and dry in a book on a rainy day, what could be better.

It's catch up time! Firstly Week 7 - Reflections in (Frozen) Water. This was taken slightly later than the deadline (22nd Feb)

Still a bit too cold for water here so I hope I can get away with it's frozen counterpart!

Week 8 - Vintage Objects.

This was the train I caught into Kyiv last week, which was definitely vintage! I think perhaps 80s. This is also the FRAMING technique given the people are framed in the reflection in the train window.

Now to keep up to date going forwards.
 
Week 9 - Time

This one didn't quite work out as planned, it is a 60 second exposure and I was hoping it would be a gradient on the coffee in the bottom with the lowest areas dark, and upper light along with a line showing the drip. But I still like it! The idea was to show the daily ritual which takes time and use my Chemex which has an hourglass like figure to further emphasise it.

It's a nice idea, but as you say it didn't really pan out. The only thing I can think might help it to go the other way and have a shorter exposure to show the coffee dripping into the lower container?

Or retitle the image Coffee Time?

Nice image though, and a very nice coffee maker.
 
I think the problem is the condensation, you can kinda see a light brown line in the middle but the condensation really hides it. I think it would perhaps would better with the drip going into a jug from like a V60 or something but then you lose the hourglass shape
 
Good concept, a short exposure catching a drip as said would probably be more effective but it’s definitely worth trying something new
 
Great idea Kane, one of my favourite ways to make coffee.
