Yes
Unfortunately by putting it in the washing machine.:gag::lol:

I wouldn`t mind, but it`s an extreme III 2 gb.

I`ve dried it out, and tried it in the camera and it still works. Are there are likely issues, the only one I can think of is the connectors going rusty.

Ooops you can just format it did you know  Glad to hear it still works though.

I suspect it's all epoxy sealed.

However if it's not then if there are any surface mount capacitors then they are likely to degrade.
They dont like getting wet.

Luckily, I`d downloaded all the big cat photos yesterday! I`ve got a do some wedding candids in about a month, I think I`ll replace it as I don`t fancy having problems and use it as a backup.

On the plus side, it`s nice and shiney now.

I know it's not quite the same thing but I did that with a 1Gb memory stick about a year ago. Same as you, I dried it out and it's still going strong today!

Should be ok, seen in a mag once where they tried to destory a sandisk card, one of the things was washing it and it still work fine.

If it does still work then you can be testiment to its 'extreme' tag :p

I did that with my sandisk cruzer usb drive, lol.
It still worked wet

If it's the extreme III then it should be fine :) I remember the test that Wile.E.Coyote mentions. (Think it was Practical Photography..I'll see if I can dig the mag out later, I should still have it).

Please note that just because it now smells like a summer meadow, it doesn't mean it's restricted to storing such shots :D

Almost indestructible I reckon. :D

I saw a test on a solid memory card on the gadget show or similar, they washed it, dropped it, hit it, ran over it, and eventually burnt it ...amazingly, the burnt out, cracked and curved card still manged to return 90% of its contents after some clever IT bloke got hold of it.

You shouldnt have a problem with it, you did the right thing by letting it dryout before using it again. It only becomes a problem when you drop it in something that contains sugar as it can eat componants etc i've killed serveral keyboards that way

I`m glad it`s not just me that done it then!

Strangely reassuring...

there was an advert in amateur photography last week, one of the advertisers has them on offer throughout September at £20.99 for the 2gb EXtreme 3's incase you want to replace it.

It should be ok, dropped mine in a glass of coke about a year ago... then dropped it into a cup of boiling water to clean the coke off, let it dry out over night and it was fine.
Still works a year later.

Remind me not to lend you equipment!:p

Play.com are still doing them for £17.99 delivered, can`t argue at that price.

Nah, I'd go for the Coke and boiling water approach if I were you  :D
