Just making my first cup of Coffee of the day, and my last roll of film nearly fell out of the fridge compartment. Seems like it's asking to be used, I was half thinking of getting it used up. Back to using pen and paper to record shutter speed focal length, and dates etc. Oh and the inconvenience of finding someplace to develop them, oh and then having to pay to see the results. Digital has certainly made me very lazy :)

I think I will save the last roll of film to photograph something worthwhile, just don't fancy taking the Film Camera to the park, and start snapping away.Mind you I have never done that with Film, I have always waited for something I felt worthy of a frame. I might just wait till we have the Grandchildren, and take some of them in the park.

Get it loaded up and get out there... You can always buy more film:D

This does mean I will have to go through the process again of tracking some film down, not seen it recently in any shops I have been in. But there again I was only looking half halfheartedly, if I was serious in tracking some down, I am sure I could. As I said, I have become so lazy since using digital !

Boots still sell Ilford usually bogof, Poundland sell Agfa Vista 200 (rebranded Fuji) for...you guessed it... £1.

On-line there are quite a few places, AG Photographic, 7 Day Shop, Silverprint, Mathers, Discount Film Direct to name but a few and for developing have a look at this thread.

Its reasonably up to date I think.

Go on...you know you want to..(y)

I did the same, got very lazy, but since I've gone back to shooting some film my photography has improved. Just the fact that I take my time and think about a shot (mainly because of the cost) has helped with composition and reading the light, and I get far more satisfaction out of a good film shot than I do a good digital one.

Andy

Well if you use the film it would set your mind at rest to whether you could ever go back to film ;) Mind you Fuji C200 is not the best quality film but still capable of good results, it is probably the same as Agfa Vista sold at Poundland for erm £1

Many Poundland shops sell Agfa Vista, wish I could remember the price. Boots still have a selection of film in most stores and you may be lucky enough to have a local camera shop too.

ETA: Damn you, Andy, posting while I was still typing!

^^^ Too slow Joe... I'm a keyboard wizard. :woot:

I was using my phone while queuing up to pay for breakfast and the first coffee of the day, no wonder I lost. I should focus on my priorities.

Yes I know I do want to, the mind is willing just the body is unwilling. Thanks for the link, just having a read through it now.

I bought it in Asda, it was on the shelf at reduced cost and I simply threw it in the basket as I was walking round.

Love that fridge...Film and lager :D

Running low on both Lager and Film, only one of each left. Good job they are both cheap to replace.

Bloody hell man, half the days gone and you're just having breakfast.... I've been in work for nearly 2 hours I'm thinking about brunch.:D

I am off to do an Asda shop later, I will ask if they have any film left. I have a feeling they may have said they were getting rid of film, and not replacing it as that's why it was reduced on the shelf. I think the fella in Asda said nobody asks for film anymore, and I was the first person in ages that asked about film. I remember I did ask a young assistant in a supermarket once if they had any film, she did not have a clue what I was talking about, and thought I meant cling film lol

More proof that you're not a proper northerner, brunch my arse!

If it's an Asda that develops and scans film to a CD (no prints) it's handy as they will do it while you shop for £3...it's an amazing price and must be subsidized as you get a printed Index, negs in sleeves, CD in small folder and all in a larger folder....... they probably make the profit when buying food while you wait for the film to be done (my Asda does it in about 35 mins during the week).
Also AAMOI the operator said "she would scan up to 36 negs for £2"...well if you have any old negs it might be worth trying.

Ah you may have redeemed yourself, is said lard, chips and pie all washed down with a pint of mild?

I said I was queuing to pay for it, not that I hadn't already been working for an hour on the train on the way here.

I hadn't, I was reading Landscape Photography, but I could have been.

Actually no it was a skinny latte....made with acid and wolf's blood.....

It's something you get used to. Last time I sent a batch off for processing, the lad in the post office had to ask his supervisor if they were still allowed to deliver "those old, y'know, camera films".

I can offer a solution for removing the hassle of having to note down exposure information. Just treat yourself to a lovely new to you film camera that has a data/multi control back with the function to imprint the exposure information between frames . The cheapest one that I can think of off the top of my head is a Nikon F801 with an MF-21.

Probably not a helpful suggestion :ROFLMAO:

I have a better solution - Don't bother!

I used to do it but realised that I never looked at it or made use of it so it wasn't worth doing.

Steve.

I only do so when I'm testing a lens or camera, if I need to know how far out speeds are its useful to be able to refer back to what option you selected on the camera.

I do it sometimes if I'm out and have time on my hands but its just generally as Steve says, when testing summink new.

Not really sure if it's worth getting film scanned to CD and ending up with digital images, may as well shoot digital from the start. I may be interested in getting some old negs scanned and saved to CD though, going to dig through my old negatives later. Ta

Re stock the film. No one needs lager, get proper beer!
Steve.

Don't drink beer or lager when I go out as I prefer Malibu or Brandy, only use beer/lager as a thirst quencher ;)

Well technically every shot in this section is digital but its the thought and skill that goes into taking it that makes it different, as I said up there somewhere, its made me a better photographer and I still think that a good medium format shot beats digital especially for landscapes and probably portraits as well with the right film. I still use digital for wildlife though, much too expensive for fillum. :D

The Asda that I go to do develop film, so I was going to ask if they did have any film in stock. But the person who deals with the photography section was on their break, and the sales assistant who was standing in, could not help as they said it was not their section and could not help me. But no worries no big mad rush just yet, after all I still have one roll left in the fridge ;)
