Just quick question about shutter

speed on my new canon 450D it keeps allternating...like one minute its rapid next its a 30sec shutter speed

why is this?

can anyone help or had simalar problems?

youll have to elaborate, Dave what mode you in manual you set every thing, all other modes camera guesses some settings for you

which ever mode you in eg AT TV Landscape portrait cose up

You're using Av mode - the shutter speed will alter depending on the light.

Or - if I'm wrong, post a couple of pics and we can look at the exif (ie - the camera settings) and then we can give you some pointers

im in Automatic
and ive been fidiling around with shutter speed and various other settings..and now the shutter speed changes as i said...

ive got ISO set at Automactic aswell

Can I suggest you read This. In particular page 20 then follow the page numbers for the mode you're in. It has all the answers.
