Just ordered the EF 24-70 F2.8 mki

Hope I didnt make a mistake by not waiting for the mkii.

So happy. Apparently amazon says it will arrive tomorow morning.

Sorry for pointless post just so happy.
 
Haha. No worries about posting. If you want pointless, you should listen to me rabbiting on. :lol:

You saved over £1000 compared to the new one and you'll be shooting with it straight away rather than waiting for stock. That isn't a mistake in my books. :thumbs:
 
Its a good lens, HUGE great thing but one of my favourites, I'm sure you will enjoy. Good weather for it just now too.

Thanks, I want to start assisting on weddings this year so i thought that a 24070 would make a good investment.
 
You saved a grand. Would the MkII give you a grand's worth better shots?

I think Canon are extracting the michael with the price for the MkII.
 
I just got mine used from here as an upgrade to my 28-70
I was a bit dubious that it would be a significant upgrade but wow... LOVE IT!
 
I just got mine 10 mins ago, and a 70-200!

To say I'm happy is an understatement :thumbs:
 
I cant knock the 24-70, its a cracking lens and sharp wide open, latest portrait pic was taken with it. Andy
 
Came this morning, fantastic lens. Really impressed with everything about it, wasn't expecting it to be so good at macro shots.

I just have to get the new 5D now :)
 
I've been disappointed with the pricing level Canon have released their latest lenses at. It's almost as if they have looked at what Nikon have been getting away with and thought to themselves "We can do that too!"

p.s. Enjoy your 24-70, it's a great lens.
 
Forgive me for being noobish, as I am but a noob, but do you miss having IS on the 24-70mm?

I won't start a thread on something that seems to have been talked about numerous times, but for me I don't know whether to get the 24-70mm or the 24-105mm with IS.
 
One of the best lenses in the Canon line up, and so good, there's absolute no justification to spend the extra money on the II. You made a sound purchase.

I swapped from the 17-55 to the 24-70 and don't miss the IS at all tbh.
 
I suppose the idea with not having IS on this was that you can shoot at 2.8 if you need the extra low light capability. With the 24-105 your at f4.0 so IS is even more important. I suppose the Its not ideal to be shooting a 2.8 alot of the time but then neither is shooting at 1/25th with IS.
 
I've been wanting this lens for so long now. There is always something else that I need more though, but now the first spare money I'll have will go towards this lens.
