I've just successfully created my first Youtube video showing a few photos of my urban photography. The location is two car parks next to the old Carling Academy was, I shot these images with a Sony a300 and 50mm lens.

The main inspiration was from Michael Bodiam who is an urban photographer also and his images I find are very inspirational.

What do you think?

please give some C&C either on here or on Youtube.

I am also planning on making more videos.

Well it's a good start;) now you know you can do it and it works, I'll be waiting for your next video with a title:)

cheers :), the "untitled" Stills is actually the title, I couldn't think of something better and I thought I'd put a twist to the usual lol, I'm glad I've started doing it because it's really exciting to see my video's and work open to the public it's like when I first joined Flickr.

I have a couple more video ideas in the pipeline so I'm going to get to work on them straight away :)

going to be totally honest with you, the pictures weren't very interesting. They need a focal point and half of them reaked of "my lens is too long for this".

I am by no means an expert at this, but had you used a shorter lens and actually had some structure to the images they'd be a lot better.

I agree with trencheel.

Maybe some post processing would help the pictures deliver impact.

cheers for the feedback, yeah for a first time it was awkward plus only having a 50mm as the longest did make the images feel cramped.

better, but a lot of your photos are still lacking impact. You need to work on the wonky horizons and composition. I'd like to see more like the second photo of that video. Taking a photograph of the side of a building and then using selective colouring just doesn't work... and again, I think you're using too long focal length for this.

It's not the crit section so I won't say any more, but I'd say work on composition and subjects a bit more.

cheers again, yeah I think the trouble is that they aren't video material, I'd say they are Ok images (some are better in colour I think) but I never really planned for it to be in a video. I never noticed any wonky horizons I thought they all seemed "right" lol but yes it's definitely too long especially as video is used to wide lenses, and it doesn't help that my 50mm has a field of view of 75mm which is very tight.

won't be long until I can purchase my 35mm f1.8 :D
