Just joined Twitter

Well i have the add function off to a tee now.. need to work out the tweet thing so I can add that I have just been for a dump :lol:

I follow quite a few bands too. It's great for me to tweet '@' at them with a link to my photos, Chris Cornell even commented on my photos :D Without Twitter, I would never be able to get in touch with an artist of that calibre.

My mates are currently in the following universities:

Plymouth - £47 return
Bournemouth - £11 return
Portsmouth - £9 return
Cambridge -£57 return
Glamorgan, Cardiff - £37 return

Other mates are still at home, which is £15 return.

Guess how much facebook is?

I'm still figuring it out too... just added a load of people in an effort that social networking might actually work for me (Facebook's done naff all so far)

I'm slowly getting the hang of it and will persevere. I was very skeptical about FB as well but can now see the benefit from a marketing perspective.

On Twitter, can you send a message to one of your contacts or does everyone see it?

You can either @ reply them (which can be viewed by everyone) or send them a direct message (which can only be viewed by the person it's sent to). Both have to be following each other to send a DM though.

An @reply can only be seen by the person it's directed at, and anybody you are mutually following. A DM is strictly between the two of you only.

So if you, me and Marcel are all following each other, if I tweet @Colin - d'ya fancy a beer after work, Marcel would see that message too and could say @Paul @Colin ooh can I come too, and we would both see his reply. Geddit? :D
 
Have had an account for ages but never touched it till the other day, really struggle to think of anything to put up there but am planning to document my travails as a sport photographer.. but will almost certainly just end up writing endless sarcastic/cynical rubbish :)

It's difficult when you first sign up because you're in effect tweeting to yourself. Even if you then add fifty people, most of them aren't going to be too interested in what you have to say.

I started from scratch, I had my Twitter account and then decided to get one under the business name, but pretty much gave it up and haven't used it for ages. I'm halfway through adding everyone on this thread as I type!

Just getting used to Twitter too - only had an account for a couple of weeks. There's some really interesting stuff out there so far, and it's nice to see so many friendly TP "faces" there too! I'm @midgedog - feel free to add me! :-)
 
DPLight and Russ40D are not working for me. I'm absolutely twittered now :)

Maybe there should be a post with all user names or this should be a sticky?
 
I've not started playing with lists yet (maybe something to do with Echofon not supporting it), but this does sound like an ideal situation for using them!
 
I've joined up (stuartmooreis) and immediately tweeted about my pants. ;)
