Just joined Twitter

twit :p

Posting your page address so that people can follow you would help ;)

Then finding people you like the look of and follow them: www.BANNED/lewiscraik is good

it's like most social media tools, you get out what you put in.

find folk that you want to follow ie: that you want to listen to. You can find folks who tweet about things you're interested in by googling 'search twitter' and then using the top few pages to search for subjects you're interested in.

send a few tweets yourself too, worst thing to do on twitter is to sign up, do nothing and then complain that it's pants.

one of twitters best features is that you control who you follow and what you read. So the only way to be bothered by spam/ nonsense on twitter is to choose to follow it. If someone espousing nonsense follows you, the only way it affects you is that they read what you write.

If you use it well its great, that being said it's not necesarily for everyone.

Excellent advice from Chris above :)

I've added you Colin :)

You need to get tweeting mate ;)

I was very sceptical about Twitter when I first signed up. I only really did so to see what all the fuss is about. I'm hooked now though!

I find the whole atmosphere on Twitter much friendlier than Facebook. Generally on Twitter, anybody will follow you, regardless of whether they know you or not. The whole "I'm not adding you if your not a friend" thing with Facebook I find quite annoying.

I've actually made a couple of friends through Twitter.

As said, you only get out as good as you put in :)

Just noticed this thread........new to twitter too.

@chrishemingway_

I think I need to do a bit of people adding :)

Im here:@shoottothrill, Mainly me tweeting about concert photos and twitpic'n from the photo pit :D

Twitter must be the most boring anally retentive site on the net....Yes I am a member of it!

I use it to follow bands - find out when they're next touring, or when they're releasing new stuff.

I'm not sure it's the right thing for me, if I want to chat with friends I just use facebook.

Wow, had to send you a request to follow you ........... how posh is that ;)

Avoids spam that way :D

I follow quite a few bands too. It's great for me to tweet '@' at them with a link to my photos, Chris Cornell even commented on my photos :D Without Twitter, I would never be able to get in touch with an artist of that calibre.

I think Twitter's great! I much prefer it to Facebook.

I can vent my frustration, elation, thinking and moods in 140 characters simply and effectively. I can discuss with friends, I can obtain help and advice. I can meet new people, I can find something to laugh about, I can even find who's tweeting nearby!

In all I like it!

Follow some people you find interesting, then they'll reference others so can start following them too... then on a friday you might see a #followfriday suggestion to follow some others...

Before long you'll be following 300 odd people and have the same again following you back ;)
I've made a couple of good friends who I've actually met now... I keep in touch with old friends, I've also started producing a podcast (PhotoLegal in case anyone's interested :D ) and got photography work with some people I know through Twitter.

There's a lot of interesting people - check out the search and the trends lists to see if anything catches your eye. It's only interesting when you're involved in it properly - if you're passive then you'll never get anythingout of it.
If you've got a business or trade that you want to advertise then you can develop things using twitter - either as additional advertising or through contacts on there.

Now that I've got a decent group of people following me I actually use it for questions and advice in preference to Google - especially if it's about a purchase. I've got great advice and have even been lent equipment to try before I buy from people who I've never actually met.

I'm @incapete if you hadn't guessed! Come say hi!

Visit Jonathan Ross twit page and and ask him if his ego is out of control.

Being a grumpy b****r I would hate to join any social network and spread my grumpiness far and wide. I do that already down the pub.:)

Get Tweeting!

Love twitter, think it is really good.

I would suggest downloading one of the free twitter clients (Tweetdesk etc) I found them much better to use than the twitter website. Just Google Tweetdeck and download it.

fyi - here's me http://BANNED/stegsie

Happy tweeting!

@northernspur but still not tweeted as yet. Today may change all that though.

Oh and i recommend Uber Twitter for your phone to tweet on the move.

I've just signed up for it.

First impressions are pretty much what I expected - utter crap.

But I might persevere.......

You can pretty much stalk any one on the internet except the_doctor199 who requires an approval :)

I won't have spam though :D

Another thing to find interesting people is this website. Type in something that interests you and it magaically comes up with a list of the most interesting people to follow, so if you're looking for photographers it'll look like this.

Dont forget to follow talkphotography too ;) http://BANNED/talkphotography

Great tip I'm off to find lap dancers

To be honest I was quite sceptical at first, but now I'm getting more into it!
I use it to post links to my flickr or site, or as I work in an web agency I follow various people that post interesting articles in that field

@suzehaworth :)

Blimey, there's a following frenzy going on on Twitter right now, I can't keep up lol :D

I am trying to keep up, but failing miserably :p Me @Jimmy_Lemon

I can`t be harrised with facebook never mind that lot.........

Must admit I'm exactly the same. I know I'd probably get into it if I started but something about it annoys me, and I stay away.

I sort of 'get' the interest in seeing what famous people/ known people might be up to, but what do I care what 'Johnny xyz' had for breakfast or how many dumps he had today.
