Hi to all around the world. I am a part time photographer and am looking to expand. Hence lots of questions about equipment.

I will start with two:

Firstly I am considering buying a Canon 5d MkII. I currently own a 50D. Is the cost of buying a 5D Mk II really worth it if I already have a 50D. I do understand the difference between full frame and all of that but the quality of the photos I get with my 50D are good.

Secondly a lens question. I am trying to make a decission between buying a 70 - 200 F2.8 Canon lens and the a 2X extender for the few times I need the extra zoom OR buying a 100 - 400 L Canon Lens. I currently own the 24 - 70 L canon, 50 mm F1.4, 700 - 300 Standard lens and a Kit lens, 18 - 55.

Regards

Hi and welcome on board.
You say for the few times you need the extra zoom?
Going on that i would buy the 70-200 f2.8, best lens i ever owned and will be a lighter and more used lens if you seldom need the 400mm

Welcome to the forum. If you are currently happy with the 50D's image quality, then don't upgrade. If you DID jump from a 50D (crop?) to 5D (FF), you would I think appear to have less zoom, however, the cropping of a large resolution file may balance this out.

I think the general opinion normally is to invest in glass UNLESS you have a specific need for a better body due to restrictions on your existing body...for example, I upgraded from a D200 to get better ISO handling.

Gary.
