Just in case you hadn't seen YN622C-TX released.

Okay, spanner in the works here. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a YN 560 II and a 560 III, which I'd like to control the power of remotely. I'm thinking this can be done with the 560 TX?

I have a canon 420 EX, which I'm guessing I can't control at all when off camera?

I also have on order, 2 x YN 565 EX II which I would like to use off camera with E-TTL. What do I need to make this work? This part I need a little guidance on.

Nobody got any guidance here?

I use 2 x 568s off camera triggered with 622s. They work with eTTL. The only difference between the 565 and 568 is HSS as far as I know.

Fantastic, thanks for that!

You'll have remote control over everything except your manual YN 560s ETTL only on the 420ex with the 622s thought the 622tx 'might' be able to control it manually.

Check the toyug for details.

I did look at it, but it pickles my little brain!

I took it as I could have remote control of the manual power from the 560's with the 560 TX. I would have remote TTL with the 420ex through the 622s and also full control (TTL and manual) of the 565's by using the 622's and the 622 TX. Just wanted to confirm before I commited to buying all the gear. My local camera stores are useless when it comes to anything related to photography. :(

Will I be able to adjust the power on my studio strobes if each was connected to 622 and I had a 622tx on my camera?

No.

I forgot to mention that my studio strobes have built in radio receiver (Lencarta UltraPro300). Is there a way to control them with YN622TX?

Awaiting: "No."

No :D

And on that positive note I'd like to thank you and leave the subject :) Maybe one day I'll receive my own unit (its been ages since I ordered one already)

Thanks Richard :)

My plan is to run a test of the Safari in bright sun:
  • With no extra 'tricks'
  • With a ND filter to open the aperture
  • With the YN622tx to open the aperture

But I've no idea when I'll have time, I'm up to my eyeballs ATM. :(

Just wondered if you'd done this - I know you said you were really busy (I know that feeling)

Annoyingly I had a play with some recently purchased smart flash (older version - thread in people photos) but didn't get a chance to use the new transceivers! Might try this weekend with the 85 f1.4 (I was shooting with the tamron @75mm f8-10) at bigger apertures!

So I tried to use the 85 f1.4 to test the 622. However I forgot that its difficult to manual focus at shallow DOF when doing selfies. In the end used the Tamron 28-75, sync speed of 1/1250! No black band!! Worth every penny for me as I know that I can use these triggers to get the shallow DOF portraits I've wanted to try, with my lights (without using ND filters)

I'll try to get a pic up later - it wont be pretty!!

Just received mine this morning - not bad only 9 days since I ordered it.
Now to find time to try it out...

I received mine this morning too, one day short from exactly 3 weeks since ordering.

Done a quick test and it seems to work :) More testing tonight.

Well back from the wedding and as I am waiting for pics to download I thought I'd report. Flawless. One small issue where a transceiver threw a bit of a wobbler, but a quick off and on and it worked fine again. Didn't get to playing with ratios, but I really am happy to have made the switch from Pocket Wizard. The control unit was super simple, super reliable and did what it said on the tin, including allowing the 430ex to work in manual.

Now, on the other hand downloading and backing up images at gone midnight is a very different story.

So had a play, shot at f2.8 iso 100 ss 1/1250 (!!!) - yes I had forgotten to use my light meter!

Lencarta & YN-622 Test Selfie at f2.8!! by Sir SR, on Flickr

Excuse the model, not sure I nailed the focus but did as best I could on a self portrait wide open. Will use the f1.4 when I get somebody else to shoot!

The light meter won't help with Supersync, it's measuring the entire flash burst and you're only using some of that light.

(You'd have worked it out)

Great shot BTW

D'oh. That makes absolute sense!

Cheers Phil

Only the post January 2013 variants of the 560III can have the power set remotely by the 560TX. Works flawlessly, btw.

What happens if I put a RF 603 II under the 560 II?

I believe - but am not certain - that the RF603 II will only function as a trigger and will not offer power / zoom control.
I thought that the 560-TX would trigger the RF 603's. Is this not correct? If there's anybody in the Cardiff area willing to lend me one to try that would be handy.

Ok, so I think in that case does anybody want a 560 II??? :)

Anyone else had a go at using it as a shutter release? There's an awful delay, I feel I've got something set wrong but can't work out what.

After testing and an exchange of info, I concluded that at present this facility is barely useful. I still use a Pixel S/R trigger with the C-TX.

I think that the problem can be fixed only when a Mark II of the 622C is released. But it is not the priority issue, I imagine: range and the effective radio envelope are of greater concern.

I had hoped it'd be better than that.
