Just got my first DSLR

The mighty 20d.

Hi,

Just thought I'd give a quick intro. Been snapping with P+S's for a while and had a Fuji bridge but always hankered after a DSLR. Got myself a very nice condition 20D. I know it's old but I thought I'd try it out on the cheap before I go and spend £600+ on a body alone.

Just looking at what lenses to buy but have to try and figure the camera out first!

It's going to be a learning curve that I enjoy and hope you guys offer assistance and don't mind answering noob questions that have probably been asked and answered many many times.

Welcome and congrats on the new purchase. For people just starting i point them to this website http://www.adorama.com/alc/category/AdoramaTV ,on the left there are many videos covering many things, digital photography 1 on 1 with mark wallace is a must watch in my opinion.

Hi, and to TP! The Canon 20D is a great camera; I had great fun with mine. Technology may have moved on a bit but it doesn't mean it's suddenly a bad camera and in most circumstances it will serve you as well or better than some of the newer models.

You can ask for advice about lenses in the Talk Equipment sub-forum, and for tips and advice on photography technique there are some excellent articles in the Tuturials section and lots of helpful folk in the Talk Basics forum. Have fun!
