Well, I won the bid on eBay for a Sony A290 nearly new only taken around 400 photo's!
I've been wanting to try photography for a while now, so I guess I've got my first foot on the step.

No doubt I'll be a regular in here now to pick up hints, tips and tricks, plus probably ask some stupid questions! :thumbs:

Looking forward to working out how to use it properly, and I've got my birthday in Nov so I guess additional lenses etc will be on my list :)
 
Wow, picked up the camera, and haven't got a clue how to use it! Been reading the manual for the passed 2 hours looking forward to getting started now.

Think the dog is fed up with me trying to take photo's of him too!
 
My first dslr was the Sony A200. Pretty much an older version of your 290. I had been shooting with bridge cams for years and knew enough to understand the controls once I got it. Take you time, look up some tutorials specific to your camera. if you can't find them on a 290, look for A390 or any of the other lower number models, they're all pretty much the same controls.

Get yourself an old minolta 50mm 1.7 prime. beaut of a lens and dirt cheap.
