Just got the above :) But is it full time manual focus? How does that work?

Yes it is - You can either switch the lens to MF and use the focus ring to obtain focus, or use AF, half depress the shutter button to focus on the subject, and whilst still half depressing the shutter, just turn the focus ring to nail the focus as you want it, and then fully depress the shutter button.
 
Arguably one of the best portraiture lenses around. Congrats.
 
Thanks guys, I thought that was the idea but didn't want to bust the AF by simply turning it whilst in AF mode!

How much did you pay ?? plus is it a lens you was looking for just to use for portraits.
 
Hi, £215 off ebay. That seemed like a good price - same price as the chinese imports listed on there.

TBH 95% of my photos are of my kids so it will probably stay on the camera nearly full time, with the 50mm and 135mm primes makes the occasional appearance. Frankly I'm thinking of ditching my kit zoom.

Keep the kit zoom!
if you ever wanted to sell your body, keeping the kit zoom is important :)
Look forward to seeing some shots :thumbs:
