Just got an Air Fryer !

Oh, another question. She often enjoys a ham and cheese sarnie for lunch and bungs it ina microwave to melt the cheese. I take it she could do the same in an air fryer.
I've not tried it, either way, ( someone must have) but I would think the air fryer would dry the bread out.

Trick is to butter the outside of the bread, or some use a light spread of mayo - stops the bread drying out and makes it nice and golden crispy - similar to what you get from a George Foreman
 
I can't believe nobody has mentioned the sheer joy of pulling the draw out, shaking the contents about and shoving it back.

I kinda want to have a drawer type too, atm just got a mini oven tray type that you load pretty much like an oven, just smaller. Tempted to get a small 4ltr or so drawer type for chips, wedges ets, then I can toss away :ROFLMAO:
 
I don't think we will. Oi can't take things out of tge oven safely so it's going to make a big difference. Just need to extend the kitchen by a few feet! :oops: :$
We actually did that! Our air fryer cost 15k. Because we lost some worktop space (apparently,) we had to build this.

I didn’t even know we were getting it. We have an undercounter fridge in the kitchen.
It wasn't until the shell was built and we were measuring up that she chose to say, " Theres enough room there for the new fridge" . Well and truly played. :D

Yeah, that one's fridge top, freezer bottom. Not the dearest, 400ish, but seems ok.

We got a big honkster of an 'American style' side by side double door Fridge/Freezer with the chilled water dispenser on black Friday 2 years back for €600 [just over £500] , think it was knocked down from over €1000 - we'd had the same wonky old up/down fridge freezer for 14yr, it wasn't cooling properly [milk would go sour still in date at times!] and the freezer was tiny. I didn't know I needed a huge fridge freezer in my life, but since getting it I'm all happy out in the Tesco freezer aisle buying up everything knowing it'll actually fit :D The simple things in life eh. The only down side I find is that it nags me, if you leave the door open for more than a minute it starts beeping at you! like, wtf!? stop snitching on me for late night fridge snacking :ROFLMAO:

I originally bought extra virgin olive oil sprays that could be refilled, this becomes important as not only is it much cheaper to refil than keep buying over priced sprays, but I love to mix. I always have one spray with a mix of extra virgin olive oil and toasted sesame oil, the nuts combo for my air frying.

I wouldn't eat a Ginster's "pasty" if it was a gift with a tenner inside - there's a reason you don't see their trucks heading West of Launceston!
 
I ordered a sunflower one for next week's order. Ok or does it have to be olive oil?
I use both, but find that generally sunflower oil works best, it lighter and has a higher burning point

Just personal preference Marc.
 
Pretty much personal preference unless you're doing a very specific diet, when I was doing keto the advice was to stick to extra virgin olive oil (or avocado, peanut oil) because it has less saturated fat than sunflower and is slightly healthier in general. I also prefer the flavor, but I know some who don't like olive oil at all. I add sesame oil for the toasty flavour it offers, it'll smoke before any others though so I put it on a bit later , though I often just spray both mixed from the off and haven't set fire to anything just yet :)

I can't fault our Ninja multicooker. It's not cheap, but it's a pressure cooker, slow cooker, air fryer, and does other stuff too.,

Apologies Marc, you were obviously looking for books (I'll go and stand in the dunce's corner with a hat on). A lot of the Ninja books are done in US measurements (cups etc) If you are getting the Ninja multicooker, I would recommend "Modern Pressure Cooking" by Catherine Phipps, we use it regularly...

 
Before forking out on more books, I'd wait and see how good the Ninja's one is. I'd guess that it covers most basics and that Mrs F. can do variations on any themes to keep your tastebuds tickled!

Getting an AF400 so no pressure cooking or slow cooking.

Don't mind US measurements tbh, I have a set of cups.
 
SOME of the guides/booklets/books that come with kitchen gadgets are quite good, so I'd wait and see what the Ninja one is like. Mrs Nod has a Ninja of some sort (NutriBullet) and the booklet wasn't bad, certainly good enough to get her going with it and inspire her to improvise with some confidence!

I mostly just look up recipes on YT, I find it so much easier to follow cooking videos. Otherwise I just throw together my own concotions, see what works :) [or, the odd time, doesn't!]
 
I cook like that too, most of the time, air fryer or other.

Mostly I'll conjure up my own, but I have gotten some good ideas from YT vids. I might not have thought to do cheesey hot dogs in their buns in the AF for one and they were scrumilumpious! sometimes the quick fire simple recipes are perfect for when you just want a snack but jazzed up a bit, also got the idea to do cornflake coated chicken chunks which also went down a treat

I bought several books when I got mine over a year ago and never really used therm.
Everything you normally cook in an oven will work fine in air fryer, just takes less time.
A friend=d, who is thinking of getting one asked me how long peas would take, I replied would she normally cook peas in the oven ?

Just not long cooked jacket potatoes in our new tabletop oven, on the air fryer setting. I washed them first, rubbed some salt in the skins and baked them on 200 for 90 minutes. The best jacket potatoes I've ever eaten, with butter and left over chilli from last night.

5 minutes in the Microwave, brush with oil, and rub in some salt, then 15 minutes on 200-210 in the Ninja on air fry. That's 20 minutes and perfect....

That does seem a long time, my fan oven does them in an hour from the raw state.
5mins per spud in the microwave, then 30 mins in the conventional fan oven.

Unless they are collosal then around 60-65 mins in a fan oven at around 210-220 is spot on.
 
I brush with oil and put a skewer through them. 1 hour at 200 is perfect
I remember the old metal skewers from when I was a kid. Square metal with a loop at one end. Not seen one for donkeys years. :D
