Finally got a 5d2. Feel free to congratulate me LOL.
It's being kept warm by an 85L. What body/lens combo. Its awesome and I'm looking forward to my first portrait shoot with it in a week or too. I've got the eg-s focusing screen and its fantastic. Manual focusing with the 85 is a breeze. Highly recommended!

Nice one mate. Would love one of those. Look forward to seeing some of your pictures with it.

Will post some soon. Just need a spare second to go out and get some shots. If not before ill stick some of my portraits on when I do them.

Congratulations Andy, party at your place?

I took mine out today as I've not given it much use, such lovely images.

That 85L must be a dream on it, almost bagged one myself here recently but something else came up that sucked in the money.

Yeah the 85 is ace and manual focusable (I know that's not a word) wide open with the egs screen. I had only really used it on the 50d but it is incredible on the 5d2. It's like a totally different lens. I thought it was nice on the 50 but its soooo much better now

I got mine after returning from my Scottish holiday (should have got it before, but there you go) after realising that IQ was the only thing I cared about and the MkIII would not be out for a while and what extra could it offer. Just been snapping and learning up to now but can't wait for;
a) a good weekend
b) daughter not dancing competitions requiring Dad taxi
c) er.... that's it

:)

I just got a 5dII and 24-70 this week too!

Coming from a 500d I have to say I thought the camera was going to jump out of my hands with that mirror slap! Jeeesus!

Unfortunately I've been so busy this week I've only managed about half an hour playing with it, but its very very good to know its sitting there upstairs waiting for me....

I fancy an 85mm too but think the Siggy 1.4 will be the more affordable route for me.

Enjoy your cam dude!

I see a trend developing here, I got my 5D mkII today

I have the 100mm Macro L glass and the 300mm L glass and the 50mm 1.4, all my other glass is EF-S for my 7d so no wide angle on the 5D mkII ‘yet’ ;)

Very nice!

I know people will comment but I'd be thinking of the mk3 (if it happens).

I'd love a 5d mk2

However it will be a long time before you can get a 5d3 with 2 official batteries and egs screen in mint condition 700 actuations for 1225. However good it is the 5d2 will still be awesome value for money.

That's a very good deal! Glad I didn't see it as my credit card would have (another) big dent in it!

Congratulations. It's a stunning combo. The 85L pretty much stays on my camera all the time.

I just can't believe how much crisp the shots are than the 50d. It's so nice.

Its such a cracking combination that, well done buddy

I had the 85L until a few weeks back on my 5dii and its nothing to be snubbed thats for sure! You will love it!

im coming from a 50d too so i know exactly what you are saying - they really do feel worlds apart. i loved my 50d - i just cant see me picking it up now. maybe trade/sell for a 5d classic at some point.
btw im insanely jealous you have the 85L :P

Yeah that's a good move. I'm very happy with my 5d 1/2 duo. The 85 is beautiful and I got a good deal on that too

+1 for the shift from 50D to 5DII in the last few weeks thanks to Tesco vouchers ha ha
Know what you mean about the move its a bit like starting again but well worth it when you press the button and hear the mirror and shutter go, like having a real camera again.
And the weight when the L zooms are attached you know its different.
