Sorry for all the questions. We're finding this website very helpful:)

Lauren is pulling her hair out on her dads laptop it's overloaded with data. I'd like to buy her her own laptop for Xmas so she can use for her photography.

Can I ask can anyone recommend a suitable laptop and what software package would she need.

She like doing still life, landscapes and childrens portraits

Many thanks :)

What camera does she have?

There is a lot of excellent FREE software out there for editing etc:

Photoscape is good for editing and the Serif Photo Plus Starter edition is excellent for a beginner with a lot of neat things:

Also allows you to resize your pics or reduce the filesize without reducing quality.

http://www.****es.com/ezthumbs/ - the missing letters are f o o k (without the spaces - moderators please note it is not an attempt to get a four letter word on here, perhaps you could amend the forbidden words to let this website print properly?)

Gimp is quite advanced but for a beginner probably too steep a learning curve and not very intuitive.

ImgBurn is an excellent free DVD or CD burner but can also create ISO files (not to be confused with ISO speed on a camera):

So no need to pay out for Nero!

And of course there is also the free software that comes with the camera.
