Phew! It was much harder work than I thought!

Spent around 50 hours shooting and editing 18 shots at various locations around London in the last week (this is in addition to my regular 9-5 job, but I did have last Thursday and Friday off though which helped).

I've learnt a lot from it! Namely:

- Get a detailed brief and find out exactly what your client wants to use your photographs for.

- Plan your shoot carefully in advance (it really will save you time).

- The British weather cannot be relied upon ;)

Still, client likes the images and I've just put in my invoice :D A good feeling, but I think it will be a better one when the cheque arrives ;)

- Get a detailed brief and find out exactly what your client wants to use your photographs for.

That's a top lesson to learn. In the world of commercial snapping, your ears are easily as important as your eyes.

Congrats on the job and on feeling good at the end of it. No mean feat! :)

I look forward to hearing more details of the job and - if poss - the pics!

Congrats to you, sounds like you had fun also, if not a bit stressful.

Grats Mohain! We just finished our first gig a few weeks ago (still no photo order :(), but we did have a paying gig the other day which worked out nicely and the money is in the bank.

Thanks Guys :)

Out of interest what sort of planning did you do?

None, that was the problem ;)

I don't really want to go into too much detail about the job for various reasons so this may seem slightly confusing but ... the client wanted to get across certain aspects of certain sites across London (day & night). I went out all snap-happy the first day and spent hours on the PC at home afterwards going through what I'd shot. When I thought a lot more about what the client wanted to portray and what I'd shot I realised that I'd need to revisit the locations to get more/different types of shots. If I'd thought a lot more about it at the beginning then I'm sure I could have avoided a lot of work.

Four days in a row of shooting the same subject matter has really made me look at the way I photograph and has forced me to confront my shortcomings! It has been slightly stressful but I've learnt a lot about myself this week.

Roll on the next job ;)

What do I know, but from your last post, you seemed to have learnt an important lesson.. All you need now is the cheque and you are two up on the deal!!

Well done!

Thanks Guys :)

Thanks for that, spot on ta, kinda what I was pondering it might be ...I realised you couldn't say much. ;) ... But knowing how high your arty standard is/can be, made me ponder on the class of image required. I imagined the images that your happy with will be hard to match or surpass.

.... which is probably why they hired you. :D .....
